Horse and Jockey — Restaurant in Singleton

Went there for dinner last night. Had the mixed grill. I thought it was pretty good value for $40. It was a big feed. My son had nuggets and chips and my partner had lamb cutlets. So the nuggets and chips were good. Sadly the young waitress pretty much chucked them on the table. Care factor from her was zero. The cutlets were delivered without issue and were lovely. My mixed grill as I said was huge and good value. Sadly I ordered a salad with it, but got chips. Pepper sauce was in a tiny bowl and was gone way too soon. Brilliant pub just as you drive in to Singleton from Newcastle . The hotel has been restored to its former glory , great little bar , pool table and restaurant with plenty of seating . Buyer beware . Bistro has gone down hill, the last 3 times have not been a great experience, food not up to scratch, service not great long wait time for meals , people on the table finished their meal before yours has arrived . The food is second to none, great plate sizes, variety and quality. The restaurant staff are always friendly, ready to help with fast service and children are welcome. The bar has a great atmosphere and variety of craft beer, beer wines and sprites. The staff are helpful, friendly and you are served with a smile.
