Good coffee. Friendly. Small but good atmosphere.
I come to this little cafe every time I visit Mooloolaba (Sunshine Coast). First and foremost it’s open early (5am), even on the weekends. For those of us early risers it’s a great place to start the day or get a few emails sent off.
The staff are really friendly, and it shows, they seem to have a committed group of locals coming in and out. The front covered patio always seems to have one friendship group or another laughing and jeering each other on.
Black Market Espresso is located just off the main strip of restaurants, kitty corner to the marina. So, it’s less touristy. There are only a couple tables indoors, a two seater couch, and a four tables outside with room for 4 to 6 people.

When coffee is what you're about, it has to be that way. There are delicious-looking sweet treats in the display cases, and the ham and cheese toastie I had was tasty, but that's it for food. Clandestine coffee is locally roasted and is as delicious as a straight espresso or in milk. They even put a little cardboard guard around the takeaway cup of the short black coffee so you don't burn yourself holding the paper...
Read moreWhere the coffee is so good it should be illegal - That's a bold statement for a cafe to make but I have to say they deliver on it. Besides excellent coffee the baked goods here are deliciously tempting - who knew that you could get a cinnamon donut pretzel?! Seinfeld would say that Those pretzels are making me thirsty for more coffee! 😉 The Mooloolaba esplanade is packed with expensive and frankly often rather ordinary coffee, this cafe is worth the small detour. One of the testiments to its coffee and food is the locals that you will see frequently here. When we get a chance to get up to Mooloolaba this is our favourite coffee spot - do yourself a favour...
