Good coffee. Friendly. Small but good atmosphere. I come to this little cafe every time I visit Mooloolaba (Sunshine Coast). First and foremost it’s open early (5am), even on the weekends. For those of us early risers it’s a great place to start the day or get a few emails sent off. The staff are really friendly, and it shows, they seem to have a committed group of locals coming in and out. The front covered patio always seems to have one friendship group or another laughing and jeering each other on. Black Market Espresso is located just off the main strip of restaurants, kitty corner to the marina. So, it’s less touristy. There are only a couple tables indoors, a two seater couch, and a four tables outside with room for 4 to 6 people. They have an assortment of baked goods, but are definitely not a breakfast joint. Just coffee and a pastry to go for most. The only negative I can see is they seem to be lacking in any mask or check-in policy which at the time of this writing is mandated by the QLD gov’t. I tend to shy away from these type of places, but they’re so darn nice, and open so darn early, I can’t stay away. I wear a mask though. :)

If you enjoy great coffee, this is a must-do. The members of this family run business all care about each and every shot poured. Heartfelt apologies are given if your coffee is little slow coming because they want it to be perfect. The extra time is worth the wait if it happens. When coffee is what you're about, it has to be that way. There are delicious-looking sweet treats in the display cases, and the ham and cheese toastie I had was tasty, but that's it for food. Clandestine coffee is locally roasted and is as delicious as a straight espresso or in milk. They even put a little cardboard guard around the takeaway cup of the short black coffee so you don't burn yourself holding the paper cup. So good.

It’s Saturday morning and time for a walk along the Mooloolaba foreshore … and a coffee before heading home. Finished the walk and off we went to Black Market Espresso Bar … a popular and cute little coffee shop along the esplanade. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and their outwardly joyful demeanour is infectious. The coffee was brilliant … it’s the little touches like chocolate freckles served with your coffee that makes the difference. We treated ourselves to yummy raisin toast too … undoing the hard work we put into the walk. It was worth it! I loved the decor & ambience and recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Well done!

Where the coffee is so good it should be illegal - That's a bold statement for a cafe to make but I have to say they deliver on it. Besides excellent coffee the baked goods here are deliciously tempting - who knew that you could get a cinnamon donut pretzel?! Seinfeld would say that Those pretzels are making me thirsty for more coffee! 😉 The Mooloolaba esplanade is packed with expensive and frankly often rather ordinary coffee, this cafe is worth the small detour. One of the testiments to its coffee and food is the locals that you will see frequently here. When we get a chance to get up to Mooloolaba this is our favourite coffee spot - do yourself a favour...
