Found this place by chance and was super excited to see they served baby octopus on their menu, something wildly difficult to find anywhere. Was disappointed when I actually received it. It was not what I was expecting. I assume the same species since they tasted alright, but I had been expecting something a bit less soggy when i saw BBQ. I had doubts it would be the crispy little ones I had a couple years ago that prompted me to search, but it was still very disappointing. The sauce(?) On the plate soaked into and made them soggy, not as pleasant to eat. A very solid "okay"
The salt and pepper calamari was amazing! Though highly disappointed they only serve it as a megre entree rather than a meal. For the price both it and the baby octopus cost, I was expecting a little bit more. Would very much love to order that again, but price + quantity makes me hesitate, even as good as they are.
Will go back one day to try the mudcrab since they didn't have any, but I'm less confident about it now. My dining partner got Barrimundi and King prawns. The barramundi was amazing, but the prawns were overcooked, which sucked as they'd been really looking forward to those.
For desert I got the psari mess. It was good! But, way too little for the price. The creme fresh was really yummy! But the raspberry drizzle they put in the middle was very strong and overpowered all other flavours. The merrange was a a joke lol. Was this tiny 50c sized thing at most, that looked like it was bought from a packet in a store. Barely could taste it. Wasn't enough of the gelato either to really taste it, which sucked. The small slice of pink dragon fruit was a nice surprise though! It was a good dessert, but I wouldn't order again with how little you get for nearly $20.
The staff were amazing! Very attentive and friendly, and service was pretty quick!
Overall it seems like a decent place, but be prepared to pay a lot and receive little portion...
Read moreWe are locals and wanting to try this restaurant for so long. The food was beyond terrible. The only positives are the attentive, well mannered staff, lovely atmosphere, and ginger lychee spritz.
We made a booking by phone, only to be sent a link some time later asking to pay a $50 deposit. This was not requested over the phone, and the link via text addressed the wrong name, so we ignored thinking it was a scam. When we arrived, they could not find our booking and we were advised the $50 deposit was for Friday/Saturday nights, and to 'get names on the mailing list'.
We ordered a prawn cocktail to start. Three prawns in a glass with coz lettuce that was dripping wet. This made for a soggy prawn cocktail.
The mains were terrible. I chose John Dory with scallops and vegetables. The fish was small, gelatinous and not cooked well at all. I picked around the pieces I could eat and left the rest. The lemon was so overwhelming that you could not taste any other flavour. The three scallops presented in their shells were the smallest I have seen. They were so overcooked that they were like rubber to chew and sodden in liquid. Maybe the were frozen? My husband chose the seafood pasta. He left the majority of it. Also swimming in liquid.
We passed on dessert as I could not spend further money on bad food.
We paid in full, as we ate what we could, but let the waiter know our feedback. He chose to say he would provide feedback to their suppliers. This was not a suppliers issue, rather a kitchen issue.
We were left so disappointed as we love great quality food and restaurants on the Sunshine Coast and I am so sad to leave such a review. I hope the feedback can be used to improve food quality, preparation and...
