Caloundra RSL, has Long held the rather prestigious title of one of the best venues of it's type, in all catagories, in South East Qld, and possibly further afield. Over the years my family and Friends have been visiting this establishment, we have noticed the occasional subtle, or extensive refits, to tweak the internal layout of the club, in order to best facilitate their myriad needs, in keeping up with the times. The various eateries, are cleverly scattered throughout the vast floor plan, catering for both the casual snack and latte, to a serious selection of fine meals. For the serious sports enthusiast, the custom built sports 'persons" bar, complete with the obligatory array of TV screens, is a must. The main ordatorium, hosts a constant procession of the finest musical, and variety acts the east coast has on offer, and are rotated on a regular basis, to suit all tastes. For the regular punters, the poker machine pit, is vast and ever present, however, for those who have an abiding taste for recent military history, there is a comprehensive display of all manner of war memorabilia, including, weapons,, uniforms, technology, and photographs , in the ground floor museum, with viewing times, according to a daily schedule. There is clearly something to cater for everyone's personal taste, in this extremely well thought out, maintained, and managed establishment. 😎

I have been a member for 10 years. 3 years ago I reviewed the Caloundra RSL and gave it a 5 star rating. Oh how times have changed. I went back last month to find half of the place is now taken over by pokies. The lovely Ruby bar is gone, no more great cocktails and sitting at high tables watching live music. The lounge area to the right of the stage is now more dining so no comfy seats to have a coffee, chat and delicious waffle after your meal. The cheap express line has gone, no more affordable meals for our seniors. And the food was way below standard. I had the chicken carbanara, tasted good, a little heavy but I've had worse. My partner had the chicken parmi and to say he was disappointed would be an understatement. The meal was tiny, he asked for veg and chips and got some wilted spinach and soggy broccolini, the breast on the bone as advertised was simply a butterflied piece of chicken thigh and the picture below shows the minuscule amount of chips he got. What parmi comes with a bone? When I asked the waitress she said that's the way the chef does them and yes we've had a few questions about the bone in a breast. Final point to make is we were there from 6pm on a Friday night and there was no live music until 8pm just as we were about to leave. I feel the place has turned into a mini casino and I won't be going back in a hurry or renewing my membership.

Caloundra RSL: A Gem for Families Caloundra RSL is more than just a club; it's a fantastic destination for a delicious meal and a lovely time, especially with kids in tow. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and relaxed. The restaurant itself is beautifully appointed, with a stylish yet comfortable ambiance. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely lunch or a celebratory dinner, the setting is sure to impress. The food is consistently excellent. The menu offers a diverse range of options to suit all tastes, from classic pub fare to more sophisticated dishes. The quality of the ingredients is evident in every bite. What truly sets Caloundra RSL apart is its kid-friendliness. The club provides a safe and engaging environment for children, with dedicated play areas and activities to keep them entertained. This allows parents to relax and savor their meal without constant distractions. Overall, Caloundra RSL is a highly recommended spot for a memorable dining experience. The combination of delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent facilities for families makes it a true gem in the region. I highly recommend Caloundra RSL to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

Pretty disappointing. Where to start… My partner and I tried to eat here one night and the wait for food was over an hour as advised by staff so we had to go somewhere else. Returned with a booking a couple of days later with my extended family including my mother in-law, Aunty and uncle. we still had a 45 min wait advised but some family members waited over an 1hr & half for their meal. Not what you want after spending the day saying goodbye to a loved one. We were a table of 20 that had traveled from Victoria. The meal was terrible. Myself and my partner ordered the rump steak medium rare. It came medium rare but still like rubber. Poor quality steak. After our meal we sat in the bar area where they had a band. The band were great! We really enjoyed them. However we were bothered by the local drunk who the staff were very familiar with because they told us multiple times but didn’t help remove her from the premises. She even spat in my nephews face and they still wouldn’t remove her. She wandered around the tables pulling hair and swearing at ppl. Eventually her husband came along apologised and took her home. My uncle who is a smoker went to enjoy a after dinner cigarette and watched a women smoke what he said was ice in the smoking area while her friend shielded her from the camera. Very disappointed with the staff and the security there. It’s unfortunate that the food, staff and local drunks ruin what could be a very nice venue. It’s clean, they have plenty of seating, loads of pokies and great entertainment. Wouldn’t visit...

Edit:

Finally gotten a response from the “Functions and Events Manager” and they have tried to back pedal and say we were informed by email that the platters were to be considered snacks yet the email from the “Function Assistant” states “Each hot platter will feed approx. 8-10 people”.

——————————— I had my engagement party here at the end of November and it was a lovely venue and the staff were great. We had invited around 50 people with only 40 managing to attend.

Everything was perfect, except for the food… we had been told that each hot platter would feed approximately 8-10 people so we ordered 5 hot platters plus a platter of sandwiches, my fiancée was concerned we had over ordered.

When the platters they looked great but were incredibly small, I had assumed that a second and third round would come out later in the evening so the food was spaced out but this wasn’t the case. All the food was gone as soon as the platters were put on the table and when looking around the room, there was hardly anything on our guest's plates, with some not even getting the chance to even eat due to the scarcity of the food. The platters looked like they would only feed less than 4 people.

My close friend had seen how upset my fiancée and I were about this so she went out of her way to order over $200 worth of entrees so people could have at least something.

I didn’t want to say anything to the staff on the night as to not ruin the evening but I had sent management an email 4 days ago expressing my disappointment but have yet to hear...

Faced extreme discrimination from Leon (venue manager), Sharon and Paul. My friend and I were visiting from Brisbane and spending the day at the beach. We decided to come to this venue to watch a game which thought they would be screening. We do not drink alcohol and were just wanting some water and an entree. We were refused entry because I did not have physical ID, I did however have digital ID and I could log into multiple government portals proving my ID as well. Both my friend and I also have quite a lot of tattoos just to paint the picture, so to be told we looked 18-25 and interrogated for it is not only an assumption but discrimination. They would not accept any of my ID options nor did they even bother to look at them. Meanwhile, other people were entering the venue without being questioned at all. Paul and Sharon had disclosed to us that they were coming down hard on us due to their error last night in allowing a minor entrance into the venue and consuming alcohol underage. This person did not produce any form of ID, not even digital and management took their word for it. Whilst I understand policies and procedures, we were obviously able to prove in more ways than one that we were above 25yrs old. The way we were treated was such an extreme and rude experience. All three of these staff members were on a huge power trip and were 10/10 Karen’s. They were acting like the venue was the Taj Mahal - it’s the local RSL for pensioners for pete’s sake. We will never...
