During my visit to Maleny, I had the opportunity to sample two notable vanilla slice varieties. These offerings are of comparable quality to those from my favoured establishments like Gumnut Patisserie (Bowral), Dobinsons Bakery (Canberra), and several amazing bakeries in South Australia, including Fat Beagle on Kangaroo Island, The Village Baker (Adelaide), and St Peters Bakehouse and Coffee Shop (Adelaide). The Maleny Bakery Cafe (9 Maple St, Maleny, QLD, Australia, Queensland) selections—a classic version and a Dutch variant featuring an additional layer of piped cream and jam—are distinguished by their crisp pastry and creamy, smooth vanilla custard. The top layer is finished with a dusting of icing sugar rather than traditional icing, which perfectly marries the custard and pastry. While I adore passionfruit icing (or fudge as offered by The Village Baker), I found that the classic vanilla slice from Maleny Bakery exceeded my expectations. I was with family. We’d purchased three of the classic and three Dutch vanilla slices. I used a serrated bread knife to cut them by turning them on their sides and gently cutting. This worked without causing the fillings to squelch out between the crispy pastry layers. I think the Dutch vanilla slice was $7.60 and the...

We arrived at Sunday afternoon for bite to eat, the service ok, taking orders as quick as they can, considering they were quite busy. The down fall was we wanted to dine in, yet every thing was served as take away..Shoved in paper bags and off you go. Not good service, if you have tables and chairs to dine in. I had a pie, lemon tart and a serve of scones, cream and jam. My wife had the same, except no pie and 2 teas allserved in paper bags and cardboard cups. So there was no jam with the scones, so approached the staff for some jam and received a strange look. Some minutes later the jam was given, asked for a knife for the scones, was told they were at the counter, I said none there, again a strange look, so out came some plastic knife. So after all that we sat and ate our meal in take out everything, then went to put our waste in the bin in store only to notice rubbish all over the floor around the bin area and floor, not a good look. My wife approached staff for a bag to put the rubbish in, she was obligingly. In all not a good lunch experience. The food was good, the service was ok, not great but most of all, if you offer dine in don't server everything as takeaway other wise don't have table and chairs for...

Gorgeous little bakery with a great variety of cakes, pastries & sandwiches. I had a meat pie and vanilla slice. The pie had a good amount of meaty chunks, was really tasty and fresh, the pastry was the right crispness... my only quipe was they didn't have a tomato sauce bottle like a lot of country bakeries do.. 40c for 1 little container of sauce. The vanilla slice was a good size and the pastry was fresh and crisp I hate it when your slices are tough, chewy and the Custard is hard from so much gelatine.... my quipe with this slice was there was icing suger on top instead of the yum sticky icing. In this bakery everything looked fresh and great quality 👌 There was indoor and outdoor seating which you had to be lucky to grab a table... shows it's a good bakery. Wish I had...

Maleny Bakery is a great café with reasonable prices and friendly, helpful staff. The food is tasty; I tried the chicken rice paper rolls, a wrap, and a cheesecake. The rolls were big, though the rice paper was quite thin and tore a bit, but the fish sauce was good. The wrap had a great taste, maintaining a good balance of vegetables and chicken. The café features beautiful old-fashioned walls combined with plant pots, wooden tables and chairs, and yellow lighting, creating a relaxed atmosphere for diners. Overall, it’s a great place to visit if you love Vietnamese food, delicious cake, or just a lovely coffee.

My mince pie was really good and the sausage roll was decent too. I find it petty and a money grab to charge 40 cents per sauce punnet. They must cost the bakery a few cents each and don’t require refrigeration so I’m not sure how they can justify 40 cents each when you need at least 2 or 3 with your pie. I’m guessing the bakery doesn’t make that sort of markup off any of the products they produce themselves. Invest in some large sauces with a pump for communal use by people eating in. And don’t say that is unhygienic when you leave the tables inside piled high with rubbish and plates after people have left.
