We usually eat at Maple 3 Cafe (which is always 10/10) however it was busy due to our later than usual arrival in Maleny - just before 10am - so we decided to go to the Maleny Food Co which we had enjoyed ice creams from in the past. We arrived to a quiet cafe (only 2 other tables of customers) and were excited to get or food reasonable fast as I had work later today. After OVER 20 minutes of waiting for our food - 2x eggs beni - we had to ask a passing waitress about our order, she told us she would check on it however, she did not return. My father had to go up and re-enquire to which she told us they had missed it and it was getting done now (was she just going to let us sit there for 15 mins with no clue of what was happening while they started our meal????). MY father rejected this and asked instead for a refund as i had work and we could not wait 20 more minutes just to receive the food let alone eat it. To which we got a refund for only the two eggs beni and not the latte that we had ordered to eat with the meal.

I work in a restaurant and i am very lenient and patient when it comes to food service workers as i can completely understand when things get missed... however, to offer the bare minimum in return is a pretty poor effort... I did not come to a cafe to sit and wait 20 minutes for food that i wont receive? Even more annoyingly now i will have to go to work hungry... love that...

I would also like to add that they tried to blame the new boy whom we saw put the slip up correctly.

I am writing this review in hopes that you will see it and take a second look at your customer service... If i was in that situation -which i have been before- i would PLEASE (politely listen, express apology, satisfy extra) by this i would have let the customer know the meal had been missed - and not just continue making coffees leaving them to guess - and given a full refund and an item of food that takes no prep so my now hangry customer wouldn't go hungry... or even just a full refund?

I get accidents happen and things get missed, but the way you deal with it is important and today that was a half effort on the senior staffs' part. For this reason we wont be returning, not even for that ice cream. I hope you take this advice into account for next...

Have not been here for 2 years, our last visit was amazing . This time it was the complete opposite . Was New Year’s Day public holiday and they opened at 9am , we were the first customers seated and to order . We ordered eggs Benny with bacon and a couple of coffees . We just couldn’t eat the food and left 70% of it uneaten. The eggs Benny has this sweet potato mash and beetroot jam that makes the whole dish so sickly sweet along with the sweet hollandaise sauce , you just could t eat it . The bacon was served on the side and was two cold bits of oily leather, that you could tell was decent bacon but it was just precooked before service making it nasty . I even as we left, walked back over the the pass and told the Chef that the precooked bacon was a disgrace . With the public holiday surcharge two eggs bennys with coffees came to $58 which isn’t a cheap breakfast when u can’t eat it . This place needs to lose some of the pretentiousness and just get back to cooking simple well cooked dishes using high quality produce that I experience on my last visit which I rated...

I am sad to be giving this feedback in public but alas, the business decided not to reply or contact me after I emailed them.

I purchased one of their gelato cakes for a birthday. 5 days later, I arrived for pickup (1-2 hours after designated timeslot) and witnessed my cake still being assembled.

I was informed one of the selected favours had sold out and wasn’t delivered till the morning of. No problem but there was no communication prior, no call to see if I wanted to switch flavours and no update for pick up time.

Of course not being set properly, our gelato cake started melting from the 100m walk to the car where we had a plugged in freezer, lined with ice. Not surprising to say that the cake didn’t make it and we ended up purchasing an entirely new cake for our birthday party.

I emailed my disappointment privately about the lack of communication and poor service on the day but unsurprisingly, enforcing their bad communication and service prior/on the day, have had no response even...

A weekend away; we took a drive to Maleny and it was time for lunch. We stepped into Maleny Food Co. – a large, airy, light space which used to be the newsagent apparently. We ordered at the counter, and both chose the smoked salmon bagel, which was delicious. Freshly baked that morning, the poppy seed topped bagel was tender inside and crunchy outside. In fact, it was one of the best bagels I’ve had. The salmon and cream cheese were plentiful, and tasty. There were spinach leaves too, if you’re keen on greens. I had a cappuccino, while hubby drank a strawberry milkshake. My coffee was fine, and he enjoyed his cold, nicely-berried shake. There is a fromagerie (cheese room) at the front, and shelves full of food goodies. We really enjoyed the bright, light atmosphere and the friendly service. Oh yes, and gelati too! And I nearly forgot the orange and almond cake; I found it a bit dense but hubby loved it. All up, a pleasant break.

Always so good to go here & grab some supplies for a picnic at one of the amazing lookouts close by. Maybe let the cheese monger recommend you something new to try, she’s always super friendly! Their sourdough never disappoints, their cold cuts are always of quality. I just wish their pantry supplies selection was larger with more things to complete a picnic or help you fill up the BnB you’re at. We often have to head over to the IGA to complete an amazing picnic spread, but maybe I’m missing the point idk! Still lovely to pop in.

After a morning drive around the beautiful hillside towns in the area, this was a lovely treat. My mushroom breakfast was (almost) enough to turn vegetarian! There was something for even the fussiest of eaters and a shame that I couldn’t quite justify having ice cream at that time of the morning. A divine cheese 🧀 and Italian meat selection was too tempting not to take some back. The helpful gentleman suggested a variety to take back for an evening game of cards of which the truffle cheese was a unanimous favourite!
