Ours. By the Beach — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

My family and I had tried to get a table next door last night tho they were booked out so we decided to try Ours by the Beach ( we were a bit reluctant at first as having lived at Shelly years ago, we hadn’t been impressed with our last experience there with different owners). Well, I must say, sometimes things happen for a reason! We were greeted by Angus whose friendliness, enthusiasm and outgoing personality had us hooked even before we read the menu. Angus was quick to attend to us and with his great conversations made us feel so welcome. My husband and I discussed that even if the food was average we would still come back for the service we received. Now the food… Well.. the entrees were scrumptious, not a bite left, and the sourdough molecules bread was to die for! Home made butter!! Yum!! Chips ignited our tastebuds and the calamari cooked to perfection! Main meals.. Josh took our order and again he went above to ensure we had eaten our entrees prior to start cooking out mains. Attention to detail was very impressive. The rest of the family had the burgers and I had the chicken with broccoli on the side. Again, compliments to the Chef!! We dine out frequently tho Our Place stands out!! We left feeling full and having a wonderful experience all round! Keep your staff please! Great staff are very hard to come by. Nice atmosphere and the service was quick, on the Saturday night we attended. Sadly though, my wife and I went with the special recommended by our waitress. That was for the seafood hotpot, which we were told would be $33 each. However when it came time to pay it was $37.80 each…??? The dish though was a real let down. The mussel shells were almost all empty and the mussels looked to be around 10mm in size. I found 3 of the tiny mussels and my wife found only 1. We got 3 prawns each and some fish pieces, which I had to share with my wife as her dish only had a spattering of flakes of the fish while I got a reasonable amount of whole pieces. Thankfully we had 2 pieces of sour dough bread each to eat with the bisque, which was actually pretty tasty. Overall a poor experience had at this restaurant, with a disappointing meal where I left still hungry and on top of that feeling ripped off, due to the price being more than what the waitress had offered. Absolutely disgusted with the service me and my partner just received.

We were seated to a dirty table, which took them 20 minutes to come and clean and 30 minutes before they came and asked us for our order.

After the lady came and took our order, she said there is a wait time of up to 45 minutes!!! Why tell us now after us already waiting 30 minutes? Why could we not have been told that before being seated? That would be an hour and 15 minutes just to get breakfast and we were already hungry before arriving. The breakfast menu was also terrible and shockingly overpriced.

So we decided to leave and come to the place beside called “Sunnys at Moffat” the service of this place was fantastic, we got seated immediately, asked for our coffee / drink order immediately and placed our breakfast order within 5-10 minutes.
