I have not felt ripped off by a restaurant like this for a long time. The curries are all gravy and no substance. There were approximately 5 small pieces of beef in the beef curry and maybe 6 pieces of paneer in the palak paneer. The curries were both sugary sweet. The onion pakoras were bits of onion that were hardly held together. They were separating into onion strands - so lightly put together because it seemed they were trying to cut down on ingredients, just like with the curries. We were asked if we wanted mint sauce? Guess what? It's not free with it - it's an up-sell. $3.50 for a tiny sauced of mint sauce we didnt need as the pakoras already came with tamarind chutney. The naan was the thinnest Ive ever had - again - seems consistent with the rest of the food - the least amount of ingredients as possible. Palak paneer was unlike all others Ive had, and not in a good way. It should be a spinach puree base, not tomato and onion with the smallest flecks of spinach you could not even taste. The ginger drink was basically soft drink that had gone flat. $10! What a rip-off. No-one can fill up on just gravy. The vibe was just maximum profit by giving customers the least amount of food possible. What a nasty vibe. We will...
Read moreWe have to give Tandoori Flames a five star rating in all 3 categories as the experience was authentic Indian, right down to the delightful accents & friendliness of the staff. Whilst we were not in a five star restaurant per se, we had a five star experience. We have been to India 4 times, but the flavours of Tandoori Flames dishes matched & bettered our food experiences over there. So, if you are looking for delicious, flavoursome Indian food, I don’t think you’ll find better on the Sunshine Coast. And by the way, the $15 lunch special is far and away better than anything you’ll get at McDonalds, Burger King or Kentucky Fried. So if you’re hungry and want a delicious quick meal at great value - go to Tandoori Flames restaurant, Birtwill St, Coolum Beach where there is plenty...
Read moreWe've had food here before, which was tasty and rich in flavours. This time, not at all.
We ordered a goat rogan josh and beef madras. They both tasted the same and were INCREDIBLY salty. Only when we added raita was the food edible. Both dishes were like a mixture between a stew and a curry, certainly not authentic Indian cooking. When we called them, they said they used "standard spices" and that it "couldn't be too salty". There was no resolution offered, except for driving back to the restaurant and have them "make it less salty". The peshwari naan was just a bland naan with a handful of raisins, instead of the rich peshwari ingredients (nuts, cardamom, saffron etc).
A very unsatisfying...
