Made a booking for Saturday evening at 7pm and we were sure glad we did. Upon arrival it was extremely busy with 4 groups waiting outside to be seated. Unfortunately our table wasn't ready on time however they compensated us with a can of green tea for the wait until our table was ready.
We ordered the following: Wagyu marinated rib finger, marinated beef rib long cut and a spicy cold noodle soup. The BBQ came with 9 side dishes: Kimchi, mash potatoes with raisins, radish, tofu skin, salad with dressing, salad leaves with raw garlic, pickled veggies, pickled chilli radish and more.
The meat quality was consistent and nice. The cold noodles were amazing with heaps of flavour, but not really spicy to be called a 'spicy noodle soup'.
The quality of the restaurant, the furnishings and the bar looked and were beautiful. You can definitely tell they renovated and just reopened under a new name and owners. I liked how when seated the service was quick and everyone had sections to attend. (The chairs are soo comfortable too!)
One of the best Korean BBQ's I've had in Sydney! They give Bornga(cbd) a good run for their money. Will definitely be going here again.
Side note/note of improvement: We already had made a booking 4 days prior via their online system. In these four days I got 7 confirmation emails, yet when we called that morning to change the reservation to one hour later they had no reservation listed under our name. This is definitely something they can improve on to get the systems aligned. Yet overall, an amazing experience...
Read morewe had an exceptional experience at 888 Gogi Restaurant . The wagyu Marble Beef was a highlight, with its melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, savory flavor. The Wagyu Bulgogi and Marinated Pork was another standout, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Wagyu Beef Soy Bean Paste stew was out of this world, added a delightful twist to the meal, offering a unique and delicious flavor profile that left a lasting impression.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for an enjoyable dining experience. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that every need was met promptly and with a smile. Overall, 888 Gogi Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. From the incredible quality of the dishes to the impeccable service, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable culinary experience. Highly recommended! Two time in one week!!! This is one of many times coming here experience:
My daughter accidentally spilled the water jug on the table, and the staff immediately came over, calmly asking her if she was okay before quickly cleaning up the mess. Their kindness and professionalism in handling the situation are why we keep coming back. The way they treat their customers is...
Read moreVERY DISAPPOINTED! The Google reviews for this place are definitely OVERRATED — I suspect many people gave 5 stars just to get a “FREE DRINK” offered by the restaurant.
I will not be coming back. There are far better hotpot and Korean BBQ options around, such as Hansang and Myeongdong.
The restaurant uses misleading photos on their menu. When the actual hotpot arrived, the ingredients were completely different and of much lower quality. They replaced Chinese cabbage with cheap bean sprouts without informing customers — the main reason I ordered that hotpot was for the Chinese cabbage. On top of that, I have a health issue that prevents me from eating bean sprouts.
The BBQ was just average. I ordered two different Wagyu beef dishes, each costing around $42–45. However, due to poor preparation — the charcoal wasn’t properly preheated and flames were coming directly from the gas bottle — the meat burned quickly. They clearly do not know how to handle charcoal grilling correctly, which was very disappointing for the price.
In total, we spent over $160 for just two people (hotpot + two BBQ dishes). Absolutely...
