If I was able to, I would not give even one star. Given the fact that we have to take certain measures with hygiene with Covid 19, I was stunned after being served by the owner of this establishment. I was in the store waiting for an order I had phoned through earlier. The owner came inside the store to serve me. Upon entering the store, he had touched his nose and hair, he didnt go to wash or sanitise his hands before giving me my order. I was disgusted. You would think that as the owner, he would lead by example. Absolutely disgusting! I proceeded to ask him to open the plastic bag so I could get the food package out of the plastic bag myself and not have to touch the bag he grabbed after touching his nose and hair. Ofcourse I got a strange look in return. Since taking the safer option and paying with a debit card, they also have the audacity to quote one price over the phone and then add a surcharge once you pay with a card. I didnt realise this until I checked my bank statements. Quite underhanded actually. We have been to aces numerous times and as we like to support as many local businesses in our area as we can. I will never go back to Aces again. Secondly, I know there is a bald man with black rimmed glasses that is there often and wears a uniform, I thought this was a manager. There is also a tall man with thick dark hair who I have seen wear collared business shirts each time I have seen him, who sits at a table with a laptop just inside the store and tells staff to come and serve when they are needed. This is the man I am referring to. He was the only person there on the day I am referring to. If this man isn't associated with your store, how is it possible that he was allowed to serve customers?? So who might the be?? How do you know which day I have attended your store in Padstow to tell me that the owner wasn't there on the day I attended the store?? I suggest that the man in question, if he is the owner, is given a run down on hygiene or don't have him serve at all. There is nothing worse than seeing someone touch there face and hair and then proceed to handle food. There was hand sanitiser he could have used on the bench next to the cash register that is there for customers use. Read moreDisappointed! This place, for a long time was my place for seafood, I loved comming in for a lobster mornay, they even catered fresh seafood for our work Christmas party last year. But tonight i ordered a prawn mornay with chips, salad, after calling the restraunt to clarify options for the meal as the app wasnt showing all available options, I was told to write everything on the extra instructions options and they will take care of it. So I wrote garden salad and chicken salt on the chips with a lemonade for the drink which is what I told the employee (who said thats fine just write it on the app). Come delivery time they were 15min late. They had forgotten the chips and the drink. The "prawn delight" was anything but a delight, it was luke warm, burnt, chewy and honestly disgustingly inedible, I have ended up throwing out a $40 meal and for that ill be taking our buisness elsewhere.
Edit for owners reply, I can understand being short staffed on a public holiday, in that case a call to the number provided to inform the dinner would be abit late would be great. The poor quality of food tonight though iam not sure what you put that down to, especially when in the past your food has been really nice.
While this is my first review for your restraunt I have personally been sitting at your tables with either friends or family where i have lead them to your page and have left 5 star reviews.
I understand you maybe upset with this review. But without it, you wouldn't know that there was a problem and you wouldn't be able to address the issue moving forward.

Lull you into a false sense of security paying close to $10 each, thinking you’re going to get prawns on steroids. No joke, 7-8 cms diameter is ALL bread crumb and as you peel it all away you find a golden 1/4 prawn buried beneath.
Paid over $100 for a dozen of them & were inedible, went in the bin. Called to give feedback and the owner couldn’t have cared less about the actual feedback itself, instantly being dismissive and offering another serving. No thanks. If I wanted breadcrumbs the size of a chicken schnitzel I’d get my cat to cough up his food. The calamari is the same.
From the reviews I read others have mentioned similar grievances that have been met with a dismissive & arrogant response. Their other food use to be good, but that too has been on a steady decline over the years. A hit and miss these day.
It’s a shame cause their staff are friendly & efficient but the arrogance of the owner & experience like this undermines it.
NB: this experience was from 6 months ago, I only just drove past again and realised I hadn’t given them the review they deserve. I use to be a regular, and the times I provided discrete and genuine feedback for things that were not up to scratch the owner would also become argumentative.
