Latest Review from June 2025: Worst customer service. We had to wait 15 mins for someone to come and talk to us. Then, they placed dining plates and cutlery on the table. Just 1 lady walking around, cleaning all tables, taking orders with full house on a Thursday night, i.e., after 9 pm and the owner bringing the food to a few tables. Wow! Pathetic service. We have ordered Baby corn manchuria and Baby corn 65, both mild in veg starters. However, it was full spicy. We also ordered Gobi manchuria dry. It had over the top masala as a base with less gobi but a complete layer of garlic powered spice. We ordered podi paneer dosa and were served onion dosa. Once we checked, we advised them, and after 15 mins, podi paneer dosa was brought. We were not cautioned at the time of order that it would be too spicy. We just left it as food waste. We ordered 1 Veg biryani, but after poor starter and dosa experience, only 20% of veg biryani was eaten. Rest was food waste. My friends ordered seekh kebab and ginger chicken dry, which was spicy too. They have also ordered chicken biryani, which had extra masala, and so they asked for plain rice. After 15 to 20 mins wait, a piping hot bowl of 1 serve of biryani flavoured rice was brought. My friends mixed both and ate the biryani, leaving a good portion as waste. When lime soda was ordered, we were advised that only Goli soda was available, and it was self-serve. We just did not bother to get drinks at all. At bill payment, the lady asked if I would like to pay by payid, and I replied that I prefer paying by google Wallet. They offer discount if customer pays by cash or payid. Unsure what the reason is, though!!! I was asked if everything was good. I replied we could have been cautioned about podi paneer dosa being too hot to handle. The lady replied yes that is spicy." But that was meant to be advised at the time of order. We have previously eaten at this restaurant plenty of times since its inception, but we never had any drama with food. By far, this was the worst dinner we ever had. We will not be eating here ever again as both my kids could not eat. At least, in Harris Park, I can talk to the owner and can get issues fixed, if any. We literally walked away with hunger and spice effect to Master Juice in Station Street to cool down with juice and...
Read moreReply to the owner after his reply: You as well as myself know that the review wasn’t just about the spicy food. It is about the efforts that I had to take to come down to get the refund, the time that was wasted, and not to mention that the lady at the counter gave just one container of sambhar for 3 portions of idlis instead of 2 containers. Well, I would’ve understood if you didn’t charge extra for chutney & gave one container. But, you charge extra $2.99 for chutney & don’t provide the sambhar that comes with it. Even if the food had not been spicy, I would’ve been required to come back to get that sambhar which wasn’t included. Also, I’ve never seen a South Indian restaurant charging for the basic like sambhar & chutney 😂. Regarding your spicy review, we have had food from here a number of times & never found it spicy. If you are talking about taste buds are different, we had 6 people who had it & found it spicy which answers your question. I’ll keep the review as it is for now till the next time we visit, would change if we are satisfied with the food.
Hopeless service & policies. I ordered sambhar idli for take away last time. The sambhar was so spicy that we were not able to have it & had to throw it away. The next time ordered & asked for giving chutney so we have an option if the sambhar is spicy, they are charging for this. I mean I have never had idli sambhar at a place where they charge EXTRA for chutney. I’d rather go to Harris Park than having food from here. Just hopeless staff & pathetic policies. Instead of them charging for chutney, if it were some other place, they would’ve given discount for spicy sambhar. Guys, you really need to work on this as the reviews you are getting here are bad. I might change this review depending on how they attend...
Read moreI had a bad experience ordering from Amaravathi on 26 July. I placed my order, made my payment and got confirmation at 2.22 pm for a 5.30 pm pick up. When I arrived at the restaurant — stepping over a bunch of wet rags that were left to soak up the rain — and said I was here to pick up my order, the lady at the counter didn’t know what I was talking about. I asked if she wanted my order number but instead she asked if I was sure I had ordered from Amaravathi. I said yes. She asked if I had the right address. I said, is this 1 Dunmore St? After a moment’s hesitation, she said yes. She then asked me to tell her what I had ordered. I told her my order. She said she only had one Menulog order and that had already been picked up. I said I’d paid for my order so what was I supposed to do now? She asked if I had an order number. I held my phone up while she typed something into her device, then left to confer with someone in the kitchen. She came back, smiling, and told me to have a seat and that someone would bring out my order. After 25 minutes, a man approached me & asked if I had ordered from Menulog. I said yes. He asked me what I had ordered. I told him my order. He went to the counter, picked up a Menulog bag and handed it to me.
Even if the food had turned out amazing, which it didn’t (both people who ate the fish biryani got upset stomachs) I wouldn’t order from here again. I’m not sure whether their customer service counts as terrible or simply non-existent — their instinct was to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault instead of explaining or acknowledging what had happened, let alone apologising. I walk past this restaurant all the time, and was excited to finally try their food, but now I know it’s simply not worth the damage to my mental or...
