A Slice of Italy in Mona Vale: Unique Experience, Classy, Beautiful Food and Awesome Service. I took my partner for his birthday. From the moment we got up the stairs to the restaurant we were both very impressed by the beautiful restaurant, the care and attitude of the waiter, the service and amazing food. There was lovely Italian music playing, and beautiful paintings on the walls with an Italian feel. The waiter went out of his way to serve us. Sometimes he spoke in English and sometimes in Italian (which was absolutely wonderful and made the whole experience very special) and went to an effort to explain the salmon was fresh and had just come in, as had the barramundi and how it was going to be prepared by the chef, as well as giving us choices as to how we wanted it prepared. He even gave my partner a special option of combining a mushroom vegetarian entre with some delicious pasta to make up a full mains serve. We would both highly recommend this restaurant for an outstanding experience. The presentation of the food was impressive as well. We are both vegetarians and found plenty on the...

It's a steep set of stairs from the street that opens into a welcoming and delicious smelling restaurant.
My friend, who has been a regular, spoke to the friendly manager and enquired after his signature limoncello. He brought out two tasting glasses. She was so impressed, she bought a bottle of the lychee flavoured one.
I ordered the bruscetta as an entree and it was bursting with flavour. For the main, I had the entree sized mussels. My friend had the crab linguini, which she pronounced 'Divine!
For dessert, I had the passionfruit creme brulee, The custard was creamy, rich, and sweet however I would have liked the sugared top to go right to the edges and for it to be slightly thicker as I usually love the cracking sensation with the back of my spoon when I...

If they haven't told you the price in advance ASK!! They will offer specials verbally without disclosing price. ASK!! There are "Market Price" items on the menu. ASK!!
The pea and thimble trick they played on us was I was deciding between the duck from the verbal special list she had just rattled off and the "Market Price" Scampi from the menu. I didn't know the price of either but that got lost in the banter. I asked which she would recommend. She convinced me to order the Scampi. It was delicious. It was also major bill shock seeing the cost of 5 scampi on a plate at $85. All the other mains on the menu range from $28 to $42.
The food and service at this long time establishment have always been good. This menu hustle though is infuriating. We told them we were not happy. Crickets. They know what they are doing. It was clearly intentional. Must happen all the time. They should be ashamed...
