Group of 20 at 2 tables. Staff was pizza cook, other cook, manager...lets call him Basil Fawlty and a waiter, lets call him Manuel on LSD.
All arrived by 6:00. Asked for some shared entrees (squid, prawns, garlic pizza) ordered individual drinks and a bottle of wine. Before entree arrived ordered the main course.
Requested wine a second time, then a third time. On the third request, Basil said "what another one", calmly explained "No, just the first".
Mains were almost all simple dishes like pizza or pasta arrived sporadically. I was on table two, the people who received their order first had finished when the last two people (who both ordered gnocci) were told by Basil that there was only one gnocci left. One ordered a different pasta and had to wait for it to be cooked.
About this time Basil had some strange interaction with the pizza cook as he seemed dissatisfied with what the cook was doing. He spun a pizza dough and lay it out slapped it loudly and put it in the oven (with no topping) as if showing how it should be done.
Finally got through mains at 7:40 and ordered desserts and coffee. Their arrival was even worse. Two coffees arrived with desserts although not all the desserts arrived. After almost all of the desserts had arrived (except for those that never came) one of two hot chocolates arrived...cold, the second never came. The "hot" chocolate was sent back and another came.
It should be noted that at this point the three other tables of about 6 people each had eaten a main and left so it wasn't as if they were busy serving others. Basil tried clapping at Manuel to get him to hurry.
An affogato arrived but it must have been sitting somewhere because the ice cream had completely melted. It was sent back to get solid icecream. Manuel seemed responsible for coffees but was seen standing doing things like flicking the cash register receipt (don't ask me why). Meanwhile some were still waiting for simple drinks like long black.
We eventually left just after 9pm with some desserts and hot drinks never arriving. 3 hours seemed a very long time for a very simple meal in an...
Read moreAquacotta used to be a restaurant that my friends, family & I enjoyed coming to. Tonight however was a very different experience. I walked into the restaurant & it looked different from what it used to. There were Christmas decorations & lights on the bar & it's June. The feeling was flat & there was no welcoming atmosphere at all. The man that was working there was dressed casually & when my husband & I looked over at him he was bent over with his bottom showing. Not a pleasant sight. 😒 He gave us some menus & we ordered 2 lemon lime & bitters & 2 kids apple juices. We were waiting for our friend to arrive so we didn't order any food yet. I looked over at the man & he seemed to be lost & not sure what he was doing behind the bar area. He brought out 2 pink drinks which were supposed to be our lemon lime & bitters & the two kids apple juices. I looked at the drinks & thought pink was a strange colour for them. My daughter asked me to try her apple juice & it tasted awful. My sons apple juice had black things floating on top. I took a sip from my drink & it tasted awful. It was like medicine. Our friend arrived & as soon as she sat down she said " I've just read some reviews about this restaurant. Apparently it's changed management. I don't have a good feeling about this place. The reviews are really bad". My husband & I said "Ok, let's go to Rashays down the road". We left & still paid $20 for drinks that we only took one sip from. We enjoyed a lemon lime & bitters from Rashays that wasn't pink. It's such a shame to see a restaurant that used to be so busy & popular with delicious food & a wonderful atmosphere turn into a dark shell of a restaurant. I'm thankful we didn't order any food. Who knows what we would've ended up getting. According to one person's review, food poisoning may have been what we would've ended up with. All the best to anyone that ventures to Aquacotta Liverpool. My family & I will not...
Read moreThis restaurant is a gem. We came to dine here on the 28th October. I initially booked it via Quando but wasn't sure whether it went through so I decided to call up and spoke to a very pleasant lady who confirmed our booking. Upon arriving, there was ample parking at the front, side as well as on the residential street. We were seated and attended to immediately by a waiter who passed us the menus. Our order was for 3 entrées, 3 pizzas, 2 pastas and 6 desserts. The drinks and the food arrived at a good pace, we didn't needed to wait long nor did we feel like we had to rush through. The table we sat at seated 6 of us comfortably and when the food arrived, there was still ample room on the table. The food was very delicious. The batter on the fried calamari was light and seasoned, calamari was cooked just right that it didn't become like a rubber band. Pizzas, the bases were cooked through and crunchy outside but fluffy and chewy inside. It was also seasoned and they did not skim on the toppings either. Pasta was cooked al dente and the sauces were just yummy. I'd have to say they must have many chefs working inside because even though the restaurant was full, the food was cooked correctly, it came out hot and was just perfect. We did not need to send anything back. Our table was cleared of our used dishes promptly by a waitress with a smile. So the desserts, the Tiramisu is to die for. Even though we were all stuffed, we could not resist the dessert options. It was my partner's birthday that evening and his mother let it slip to the lady so one of the waiter came put playing the guitar, singing "Happy Birthday" while his cake was placed infront of him with a candle. All in all, we had a wonderful memorable birthday dinner with friendly customer service from all. Thumbs up to...
