Awesome Thai — Restaurant in Sydney

We have used Awesome Thai as our go to local thai for a number of years. Today was my son's 10th birthday and he requested Laksa and Spring Rolls. I rang the restaurant twice to confirm details on gluten free food and was dissapointed that the man answering the phone didnt know this basic details of the food offered and had to confirm with someone else. He did ask if i wanted to order over the phone but I had meals for 12 people already in our cart for online ordering and never once did he indicate there was a supply problem with some of the food on the menu. Placed our order, watched on the screen and when the order said it was ready for collection sent my father and brother down to collect the food. They informed 1 of the 2 men behind the counter and were left standing for 9 minutes (despite the order showing as 'ready') finally they were told that they were running low on a few things and couldnt complete our order. We ended up having to change our order (we got none of the 3 laksas we ordered, or the 3 sets of spring rolls - so nothing my kids would eat) we got several pad thai's which where all Noodles with 2 carrots on top, no lemon and no flavour - they were thrown out. The 2 stir fries were OK as was the rice. We were given a salad which was so vile it was discarded as something in it tasted off.

Very dissapointed that despite our 2 phone calls and presence in the restaurant they waited this long to tell us that they couldnt supply our meals of choice. And we ended up having to wait 90 minutes for our food. My son was in tears that he missed out on the thing the wanted for his birthday. If only you had been upfront we would have ordered elsewhere.

Hard to believe we spent this much money ($143) on a meal and it was not eaten. Very dissapointed we will...

Unfortunately I’ve been going to this place for years lunch and dinner and I invite a lot of my friends to try it. Today I went with my kids I ordered my food straightaway without even looking into the menu.

The kids dish came so late!! Came after my dish after I told them it’s just noodles for the kids and you need to prioritise this. My dish was super spicy despite me asking twice for mild . What was the most annoying part when I said that this is so spicy they said: we saw the chef didnt put not too much chilli!!! Seriously you saw the chef, how and you were on the other side of the kitchen!! And the chef was cooking so you can only see their back from far!! I’ve had this dish in many other Thai places (it’s time for Thai at Newtown and Hurstville and other places at nerellan and a lot of other places and it’s never that spicy. Also this was the third time in a row i go dinner and they get me spicy dishes despite saying I want mild and it doesn’t happen during lunch and with the lunch chef.

You need to sort this out and most importantly train your employees how to respond to such complaints without being so arrogant and saying I saw the chef putting little chilli and my dish was full of red chilli. I could’ve taken a photo and posted it here but this is so frustrating because I used to love this place and go a lot at least once a week at least!!!!! Always with attitude specially the girls with long hair!!! Awful...

Ive been coming to this nice thai restaurant many many times but today something happened that may have lost my business with them.. Me and my wife ordered our lunch around 1.30pm the food came out and looks and smells delicious as usual..i then asked for some fish sauce and chilli to a girl with long black hair wearing glasses..she brought it out and i thanked her..

My wife then told me can you ask for some chilli flakes also in which I happily obliged.. I then asked the girl wearing glasses can i please have some chilli flakes also..she then roll her eyes right infront of me with such a bad attitude and body language and reply by saying “ you have to pay extra for that” in a degrading tone of voice..

I just couldn’t literally believe what has just happened..i was incredibly upset and said outright this will be the last time ill be eating here again.. The other young waitress clearly saw that i was very upset and said under her breath “sorry sir” because she witnessed the whole scene..

I love thai people and love thai food so much that i couldn’t believe what had just happened.. She was hands down the rudest person ive ever encountered in 25 years of eating at multiple thai restaurants and visited the country 8 times..

If the owner is reading this review i sincerely want to say this girl is costing your business...
