Let me start by saying that I’ve given one star for Bacino’s convenience- my partner & I live within walking distance, so since it’s opening, has been really great for us; the second star is for excellent food (the Italian Scramble & the Belgian hot chocolate are favourites of ours). However, what has turned us away from this place, & what we are sick of having to deal with, is the attitude of its employees (one blonde female employee in particular). The opening hours on their door & on their google listing clearly say that they close at 3pm on a Sunday. They also claim on their blackboard out the front, to serve All-Day Breakfast, something that my partner & I, who work evening shifts, found very appealing in the beginning. This is a place we have taken my mother, our friends, & have frequented often on our own. We even loved that we could take our dog & sit outside with her at one of their alfresco tables. However, the changing attitude of their staff has meant that we’ve decided to find somewhere new for our special Sunday breakfast. In the last month or two, we have noticed that on days when the cafe is quieter, the staff seem to take it upon themselves to shut up early. I understand that kitchens must close before the close of business, so there is adequate time to finish up before they head off. I also understand that it can be incredibly frustrating to think that the last customer has come, only to have one more come in right in the nick of time. But let me tell you something: there will ALWAYS be that one last customer who shows up right at the last minute, & you have to treat them just as nicely as you would someone who’d come in rush hour. Twice or three times in the last couple of months, we have been turned away as early as 2.30pm, & been told that that’s when the kitchen closes. Today, with that in mind, we went to Bacino at 5 to 2pm, only to be told that they had technically closed the kitchen & had already finished cleaning up the breakfast food for the day. Thankfully, the cook said she COULD & WOULD make us breakfast anyway, & we were served reasonably quickly. But the attitude seems to be that near enough is good enough, & as someone who works in customer service also, let me just say, that’s it’s not. It’s never good enough. People appreciate good service. People appreciate a business or a staff member going that little extra mile for them. People don’t want to feel that they’re not welcome, or that they aren’t allowed to sit leisurely & have a relaxing Sunday brunch because the staff are making them feel as if they’d have gone home already if that customer hadn’t been there, as we felt today. The atmosphere created by the staff in Bacino, North Curl Curl has gone from warm & inviting & exciting when it opened, to giving us the cold-shoulder & a reluctance to actually do the job they’re being paid for, or even be civil with the customers. I think this is a very disappointing scenario, as we have been faithful customers for the past year. It will be a shame to have to find somewhere different, but until they pull their staff into line, we just aren’t interested in being made to...
Read moreGood coffee, good food, good atmosphere. But unfortunately the staff are really slack. I’ve been there several times and they tend to just leave all the plates and glasses of the previous customers on the tables so if you want a table outside, you often have to clear it yourself. Also, they say they close at 2pm but then start packing all the chairs and tables up from 12:30pm. So by 1pm, everything is nearly packed up. It’s as if they do it to be able to finish work earlier. It’s really slack and ruins the atmosphere when you’re surrounded by tables that are packed up with chairs on them. Either close earlier or leave the tables out for...
Read moreGot the call for G'pa to come watch my grandson in his Saturday morning sport. Desperately in need of a coffee, called in at Bacino. Ordered a large cap but needed just something to go with it. Saw a muffin and asked what flavour it was. Peach and white chocolate!!! Who could say no. The coffee was 11 out of 10 but the muffin was off the charts. Broke the Richter scale. It was beyond stunning. Runny choc on top, crunchy outer crust then the moist, flavoursome peaches hit the taste buds! Amazing!! I had the choc all over fingers and face but was oblivious. So take the tip and try it but...
