EDIT (September 2024)
I have had to change my previous review of 5 stars as recently there has been a deterioration in the quality of products offered by Baked by Keiran. Which I am very sad about as I was a repeat customer and alas will need to change this. The only think that i still comfortable rate is their mini quiches for catered events.
Unfortunately, on the weekend I ordered a pavlova cheesecake. Not only was the ratio of cheesecake to pavlova different to previous occasions - but two different guests found hair in their cheesecake. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. This happened for two previous cake purchases as well. I gave them a chance the previous two times - but I have to draw a line somewhere.
The quality of coffee made and served while I wait for my order is poor and there is always a wait for pre orders. Which I need to remember to build into my planning on very busy days.
It is a pity as I have historically highly recommended this location - but I will have to find another cake store for family functions as we have been let down too many times.
PREVIOUS REVIEW
I have been a repeat customer of Baked By Keiran at Dulwich Hill. Their cakes are amazing. The Raspberry Marscapone Spongecake is a most recent favourite. As is the tres leches. Oh! And the upside down pineapple. I’ll stop because they are all amazing. As are their pies! But one thing happened recently that I would like to share. I pre ordered a cake, brownies and mini quiches (all YUM) for a Saturday morning pick up. There was a slight hiccup with my order and I had to wait maybe 10-15 mins for my order to be prepared. It was fine and I had no issue with the wait. But the staff offered to reimburse me for part of the order for my trouble which I did not need and refused. And then I was given a coffee and croissant on the house. I didn’t mind the hiccup and the staff member was incredibly polite and apologetic. If I wasn’t already a repeat customer. This amazing customer service would have...
Read moreThis little hole in the wall is filled to the brim with deliciousness. It may be small but there are lots of goodies on offer and the queue is long with those in the know. There is a cabinet of classic cakes including a dense carrot cake and rich chocolate mousse cake. Then there are the freshly baked French pastries and breads. Bread is delicious. Pastries are omg and one of the best I have had in recent times and took me back to France. The croissants are super flakey and light. The almond croissant has good flavour, not soggy or overly rich and just perfect. The canele is such a special little parcel of joy and filled with a runny custard centre. The brioche with custard is so good as are the pizzettes. Everything is utterly delicious, addictive and served with...
Read moreBeing a local, I decided to try Baked by Keiran as I have heard so many good reviews and have seen so many people queuing up outside. I had the spinach and olive pull apart and cheese cake. They both looked great but unfortunately both were disappointing. The pull apart was very dry and seemed to be a few days old (I've had similar from Bakers Delight which were freshly baked and of the same calibre) but different price point. The cheesecake was quite lack lustre. With so many options in the inner west from Bourke St Bakery(Marrickville), Black Star Pastry (Newtown) to Sweet Bellem (Petersham) it makes it very difficult to want...
