I've worked in hospitality for the majority of my life and I currently own a number of venues in Sydney. Food is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle for a restaurant but a close second for me at least is the atmosphere. I've always let the bossy girl on the till bad attitude slide as I just accepted that's how she is and enjoyed the good quality food and said nothing. But last night, it was my little sisters birthday, my family traveled all the way from Monterey to come eat at "her favourite place", something she hasn't been able to do for a long time due to covid. The food of course was great. But the service... I was shocked this time. Took ages for them to bring an extra plate and cutlery set which I eventually just grabbed from another table. Then, my little brother who's 6 wanted ketchup and they brought him chilli sauce instead. It burnt his mouth and made him cry. No remorse, no sorry, if anything the bossy girl on the till had attitude. Appalling behaviour for when a kid is crying and burning. Then they took ages to clear our plates and clean the table and only cleaned upon requesting again and again so we could enjoy the cake. Then they insistently tried to usher us out even though the restaurant was (and had been all night) less than half full and there were people still eating their food. You need to respect your patrons. I've been going for 8 years. I may not go every month but I go a number of times a year and so do my friends. You need to nurture that relationship. I don't like to feel like I have to push for basic service and made to feel bad as a paying customer who doesn't cause any problems. Honestly, the girl on the till needs to relax and learn some manners if anything to have some happiness in her life. I don't think I'll be going again purely off this experience and I do love the food so that's says alot. One Star long...
Read moreYour new Restaurant at St Ives - service is appalling! It needs new staff immediately if you plan on being successful in this business. The male waiter on the door greeting customers with no basic social skills and manners that was working on Aust. Day should not be in hospitality or customer service. What kind of establishment tells the customer who booked a table for 3 to get out if you don’t like it when you kindly ask for a bigger table bc you plan on ordering lots of dishes that won’t fit on a tiny table? We had 3 people on a table that was too small , only asked if we could get a bigger table which was a reasonable request. What disgusting treatment and we will never return again and tell everyone. Not only that, but I’ve never seen waiters serving food wearing jersey style singlets showing their hairy armpits. No one wants to see that. Not with their food & drinks! Not very tasteful, hot weather or not. Why invest so much money into marketing to win people over to be patrons at your restaurant if you have a person like this being the face of your business? We ended up going to our favourite restaurant in Chatswood instead where we were treated like human beings instead of animals and spent over $400. Your loss. We are locals of St Ives for the past 30 years and are in hospitality industry ourselves and would not in a million years talk to our customers in a derogatory manner like we were treated today. St Ives is a happy family orientated close knit suburb and I’m sure others will agree that with treatment like this, you will not be welcomed here. It’s also such a shame bc on line this restaurant presents so well but in real life the service and attitude was an...
Read moreBangkok Bites 5/5 (Bondi, Sydney)- Eating at Bangkok bites was such a joy. The last time I went out to eat at a restaurant was many many years ago. For some people, you may say the 6 people line that takes 15 minutes is a disadvantage to the place, though this is not the case. I personally enjoyed lining up being surrounded by people. It was all part of the experience. Would you rather be eating at a unbusy restaurant or a crazy busy one where the experience is popping. The food was reasonably expensive costing around 20 dollars per meal but was worth it for the quantity and quality of it. I ordered something I don't know the name of except that it was in the pick n mix category. The pick n mix menu page was awesome because it had a wide variety of food choices. The food was delicious and tasted so good, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the tables outside were really cheap and the table cost was a little nasty. Other than that, the experience was awesome and the food was just incredible yet the only thing letting it down was the outside table and...
