I asked for a dairy free pizza (I'm allergic). It's in the notes on the receipt (see image) in several places.
Turns out they didn't make it dairy free.... I called when I got home and the owner was unresponsive saying how people in Italy don't have an allergy and I'd be fine....
He also wouldn't make me a new pizza or offer a refund....
Such a shame. Honestly horrible service. I can't recommend this place and won't be going back.
Not to mention it took 40 minutes longer to make the pizza than was originally quoted....
Update Based on owners response:
The owner has a clear and over used narrative where he blames uber eats (look at other reviews)
The owner seems like a defensive and angry man. I appreciate running a small business is hard, but caring about your customers is important. Perhaps this venue gets most of its business from tourists opposed to locals so repeat purchases don't matter?
In this case it say says multiple times on the order dairy free. It's a messup by the kitchen. It happen. But when mistakes happen, it's about the response. Seriously if they just said sorry, we'll cook about I'd have been happy.
Based on the lies and false information provided in the owner's response, I can reconfirm I won't be going back.
I'd suggest people support a local business who cares.
Owners original response (in case he deletes or edits):
Hi Kasey,
your review is just terrible for the many
lies you have put on.
are you asking a refund to the brand
instead of David Jones????
I've tried to explain to you but it seems very difficult for you to understand the concept.
Please be honest with yourself and
accept that you order wrongly.
And definitely... if you order through UberEats... you have to call UberEats to have your order issue fixed. I hope you get now the difference between ordering through UberEats and order directly with...
Read moreI'm so sad to be giving Tipica such a bad review as their pizzas are tasty but we had the worst custoner experience tonight. We ordered 2 pizza (gluten free and dairy free) on uber eats and chose pick up because in the past when they have been delivered the pizzas have been cold. When we went to pick up the order 5mins after the specified time of 18.40 we were told that it would be another 10minutes. After 15mins we returned to the restaurant and were told it would be another 5-10mins. We finally receiverld our pizzas at 19.15 (35minutes later than time specified) the response from the restaurant "our systems aren't linked up to uber, you will have to contact them".
When we arrived home and opened the pizza we saw that one of the add-on options of "pesto" looked like it had dairy in it. Note, all of the items in our order had checked the box "dairy free-no cheese", we chose the add on of vegan cheese and gluten free base, an extra $10 per pizza, and we also added a note twice " gluten free and dairy free". I am highly sensitive to dairy so we called the restaurant to check if the pesto indeed had dairy in it. They confirmed it did have dairy in it and told me it was 18months aged so most people who are diary free are ok...I told them I am sensitive to the cassein not lactose and they realised it was not suitable. There was no apology, they said of course pesto has dairy, and took no responsibility for not reading the order instructions. They told me to call uber. An appropriate response would have been we are so sorry, our kitchen team is super busy and must not have read the order instructions, if you come back down we will make you up another pizza free of charge. Big fail Tipica.
Update based on owners response:
My husband actually placed the order while I sat next to him and I called the venue to discuss the order error. The owner continues to blame uber for the issue when clearly they received the order instructions and the kitchen didn't pay attention to this. This is not about getting free stuff, it's a) about not being violently ill because a restaurant doesn't care about dietary issues and b) receiving what I ordered.
Based on the owners response you can clearly see a lack of...
Read moreI'm generally not one to write a review, if I don't like a place I just don't go back. But this place was really a stand out. For starters we had the polenta which was a few small pieces of thin overcooked polenta with next to no flavour for $12. My partner ordered the 'His majesty the Ragu' which was supposed to be traditional but it definitely didn't look or taste like Ragu meat, lacked flavour and was a small portion for $26. He described it to taste like the $10 spag bol you can get at your local pub. I ordered the Bufalino pizza and asked to substitute one of the vegetables for a different vegetable and they ended up charging me extra for it. Also, don't be fooled - it lists Basil as one of the ingredients, however it comes served with one small basil leaf, they do not mention it is just a garnish. Also there was barely any cheese on it! Some of the slices just had tomato paste and NO cheese! - they charged $26 for this terrible pizza. The service was ok - although they had one waitress looking after the whole place and they don't pour you your $60 bottle of wine and our bottle of water on the table was empty pretty much right away and no replacement offered or brought. The food took a while to come out as it seemed as though they were prioritising their deliveroo orders which were coming in and out constantly. The music felt cliche and did not provide for a nice ambience either. So I will definitely not be returning here or recommending...
