By now almost every Sydneysider has visited Bar Luca at least once, so I am but one small voice in the chorus of genuflection: the Blame Canada burger is the best burger in town. With its nectary maple-glazed bacon and creamy poutine curds, the Blame Canada burger ($16; +$6 for fries and smoky, spicy BBQ chicken wings) is a joyous celebration of sweetness, saltiness, fat and American exceptionalism with every mouthful. Despite there being so many ingredients and so many contrasting (yet ultimately and oh-so-satisfyingly harmonious) flavours, the beef remains the true star of the burger. And rightfully so, because it's cooked to such pinkish perfection that it overflows with its juiciness - it's the first thing you notice with every bite, until suddenly an explosion of fruity sweetness arrives with the maple-glazed bacon, a taste lingering just long enough for the soggy poutine fries and cheese curds to round things off with their creaminess. Rinse and repeat, and before you know it, the burger's gone, this inspired symphony of flavours has finished, and by the time you've polished off the remaining strands of nori-sprinkled and perfectly seasoned fries, you've already mentally pencilled in your next visit to Bar Luca. Despite such awe-inspiring food, several minor but inexcusable annoyances prevent Bar Luca from being a 5/5 experience in my books. Firstly, there needs to be a better dining system - the "ordering at the bar and bringing a number back to your table" method may work for any other pub, but for a packed and numbingly loud place like Bar Luca, it just increases foot traffic within the restaurant unnecessarily, making the otherwise simple activity of ordering food overly complicated and frankly, headache-inducing. Either have full table service, or don't allocate tables to people until they have their food. Secondly, Bar Luca really needs to hire more staff: the waiting list to get into the place, the first and integral step of their convoluted system of operations, was unmanned for most of our wait, which meant quite a few people walked in off the street, jumped the queue and headed straight for the line at the bar to order their food. Luckily, some staff caught on to this and directed them to wait outside, but again, it's just unnecessarily complicated. Thirdly, due to their meteoric rise in popularity over the recent years, Bar Luca has crammed in as many bar stools and tables as possible into an already cramped space. This means during peak times you're literally shoulder-to-shoulder and back-to-back with strangers: think about all the "excuse me"'s you'll be muttering as you shuffle past them to order your food and all the bumping of elbows as you struggle to eat comfortably. Bar Luca, for all the frustrating faults in its operation, offers absolutely stellar food that has dominated social media and the Sydney foodie zeitgeist for several years now. In combination with their unique and creative weekly burger specials, it's hard to imagine how they will ever go out of fashion.

I have not written a review here for quite some time, but how could I not after such an incredible experience. I came to Bar Luca with some members of my family, seeing a tonne of terrific reviews but this surpassed all expectations! Hands down the best burger I have ever enjoyed, and at a very reasonable price. I ordered the BL Chicken burger, which arrived in a delectable milk bun with the perfect amount of flavourful chilli sauce to complement the fried chicken and smoky bacon flavours. All burgers are reasonably priced (most under $20) and are incredibly filling, without add-ons even being required. That being said, the chipotle BBQ sauce which was served with the onion rings elevated such a classic side item to be absolutely glorious and an explosion of taste. Not only this, but the service here rivals that of McDonalds , with our dishes promptly arriving to our table just minutes after ordering on a completely packed Saturday night. 10/10 taste, 8/10 price, 9/10 service and a pumping atmosphere - you really couldn’t ask for anything more. 10/10 - Seamus, Chief Executive Officer, InDaMedia Ratings.

I am from the United States of America, the place where hamburgers were popularized. I've had some good burgers in the States, but I've been to two places in Australia that have completely blown my socks off when it comes to their burgers, and Bar Luca is one of those places. I had the Mac Daddy, loaded fries, and one of their milkshakes. All of it was incredible. I could not stop telling my party how good my food was, and my party could not stop telling me how good their food was. It made us sad that we discovered this place on our last night in Sydney, because we would not be able to return to try other menu items until our next time we come to Australia. Kudos to them for having a South Park reference on their menu (the Blame Canada Burger). Service was great! Staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. I walked here, so I cannot say much about the parking, but it was busy when we were here, but we were not kept waiting for long. Needless to say, I would go out of my way to come back here again on a trip to Australia.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Bar Luca has always been a go-to burger restaurant for me and a few fellow friends. Even more for a reason to come down here if the office is so close too! I remember coming here a few years ago back in 2021 and their burgers definitely left a lasting impression on me. Their Blame Canada is always a go-to for me, recently I've got their "Gucci Jang" which was a weekly special and it involved karaage chicken with gochujang sauce and a lot more! It was amazing! Not sure how often the same weekly specials come up but I recommend it to anyone that's for sure! Their service is considerably fast despite a busy office lunchtime and we only waited up to 10 mins for everyone to get their food. The atmosphere is what you'd expect of a "Bar" and its nice especially during the afternoon. Thanks for the feed as always Bar Luca! This won't be the last you see of me and friends! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

The burgers at Bar Luca are delicious! I ordered the BL burger ($18) with a side of fries ($4) while my friend had the Blame Canada ($20) with fries. The bun was soft and melt- in-your- mouth. The lettuce and tomato in my burger were good quality and fresh. We both commented on how good the patty was. It was very tasty and juicy. It had a nice charred flavour and texture to it as well. We both really liked the sauce on our burgers. Service was excellent, too. All staff we came into contact with were really friendly, helpful, and courteous. They were accommodating to requests. There is a semi open kitchen adjacent to the bar. It is reasonably small in size. It was very busy yet all the staff were smiling. Everyone was working very hard. We were given a warm greeting upon arrival and when we were leaving. The bar gets really busy. I would recommend booking in advance.

I recently visited Bar Luca and tried two of their signature burgers: the Blame Canada and the Mac Daddy. The Blame Canada, featuring a maple aioli, was overly sweet for my taste, making it difficult to enjoy. The Mac Daddy initially had a good flavor, but my experience took a turn when I discovered a piece of plastic inside the burger, which I accidentally bit into. The chef should show more attention into what they put into their burgers. Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. Even 2 hours later, I still have a very unpleasant aftertaste and feel discomfort in my stomach, which left me with an overall bad experience. On a positive note, the management was responsive. When I raised my concerns, they quickly apologized and issued a full refund. Their professionalism and swift response were appreciated, though the meal itself left much to be desired.
