Update July 2024: Basak continues to be one of my favourites Korean restaurants in Sydney.
Service is excellent - we have always felt looked after here and the food is always fresh and quickly served up. We even got moved to a better table when they had space away from the entrance.
The tonkotsu is still my favourite in Sydney while the stews and warming and hearty on cold winter nights.
Thank you to the team and Basak & Jogumja!!
Original review: Great Korean restaurant in Lidcombe. The restaurant is a small but decent size with a nice fitout and clean - felt comfortable inside on a hot summer evening.
Very efficient service and the food is very good. After seeing some pictures of the tonkatsu, we gave it a try and were amazed at the size as well as how crunchy and tasty it was - a must try.
We also had one of the seasonal specials which was the spicy and sweet cold chewy noodles which is full of flavour and perfect for summer.
We finished all the food and were very satisfied - portions are big and price is very reasonable.
We will definitely be back to try other items from...

Tebokki: 5/7 Quite spicy, but very tasty. It comes with a loootttt of sauce, which is appreciated. The rice cakes themselves are also good - not too soft.
Fried cutlet: 5/7 It’s a lot. And not always available. Not super juicy but not dry either, it’s tasty. Fairly oily though.
Bossam: 6/7 This was really good, huge portion for a big price. No shank smell and very delicately cooked - tender and fatty with lots of sides to help balance. Unlimited lettuce too. Also comes with a free bowl of soup, which was good.
Bibimbap: 4/7 This was tasty still, but not quite what you’d expect. It comes out in a metal bowl, so is not as hot as you’d expect and lacks the crunchy rice...
Read moreThis place really hit the spot! I came in craving something comforting and refreshing—and it delivered on both. I started with the beef rib soup: the broth was rich and creamy, clearly simmered for hours. Then came the spicy kimchi cold noodles with pork belly,I’ve never had cold noodles that tasted this good 😍✨ I also tried the half-half chicken combo (honey + sweet & sour)it’s a must-try. The bibimbap was a solid 10/10, and the beansprouts served with the pork belly? Another 10/10 🔥 We also try the Octopus meal for 2 but i forgot to take the picture, but trust me this the menu that you have to order!!! The restaurant itself is clean and cozy, with super friendly staff who were happy to explain the dishes and tell us how to enjoy the meal🫡. Everything tasted authentic and homemade. I’ll definitely be back...
