Your response completely misses the point of my complaint and reeks of a cover-up. Instead of owning up, you’re doubling down on dismissing your customers—what a terrible way to run a business. I was charged $31 for a half-and-half order when the menu clearly lists BBQ pork and roast duck at $26.50 each, with no mention of an upcharge for “larger” portions. When I questioned it, the cashier—likely you, the owner—got snippy and rude instead of explaining or fixing the issue. If you’d just shown the pricing upfront or admitted the mistake, this could’ve been resolved. Instead, you chose to antagonize me. Your defensive reply below only makes you look worse. Do better—learn to value your customers instead of arguing with them. Clearly, I was right, or I wouldn’t have bothered writing this. This place is a scam, and I’m done with it.
Dodgy restaurant. Menu says BBQ pork and roast duck are $26.50 each, but when I ordered half-and-half as suggested, they slapped me with a $31 bill. I questioned the cashier, who I’m pretty sure was the boss, and got a rude, half-baked excuse about the two halves being “bigger.” No one mentioned an upcharge, and I didn’t ask for a larger portion. They’re clearly out to fleece customers with sneaky overcharges. No refund, no apology—just attitude. Shady, dodgy spot. Avoid it like the plague and save your...

A few doors down (175 Rowe Street) from the popular BBQ One Chinese barbecue shop, the same owners have created BBQ One Wok Inn. This long, galley-like space has a futuristic vibe, with red booths and a curved ceiling, plus a gold-edged glass box where the restaurant’s BBQ master resides.
The menu is extensive, with the best value to be had on the banquets. On New Year’s Eve we embarked on the Christmas Set Menu B ($88), which feeds 2–3 people for that price. Kicking off with moist slices of agarwood smoked free-range chicken from the Cantonese BBQ, our table was quickly loaded up with bowls of steamed rice and simple soup. A generous serve of little neck clams stir-fried in XO sauce kept us busy slurping bivalves from their shells.
We punctuated the clams with wasabi-spiked beef tenderloin hunks so fierce they made my eyes water. That said, I kept going back for more of this crazy-compelling blend of tender beef, crisp green beans and button mushrooms. Balance was restored by a heaped plate of water spinach seasoned with chilli oil and fermented bean curd. While we ate the clams in situ, we took home enough of the other dishes to cover lunch the next day. Even including BYO at $12 a bottle, this complete dinner (and lunch) for two people at a hundred bucks represents value-for-money you’re unlikely to find in...
Read moreThis restaurant and BBQ ONE share the same owner. For so many years, they've been notorious for poor service and rude attitudes! The owner thinks of themselves as long-time Australians and have an inexplicable sense of superiority over fellow Asian customers, looking down on others! During the pandemic, their service slightly improved because of poor business, but now that the pandemic is over, their true colours are showing again!
Not long ago, I took my whole family to this restaurant for a meal. We greeted them politely upon entering, but the owner, with a long & sour face and an expressionless look, ignored us completely, as if we owed them something! Their attitude while taking orders was as terrible as ever, and the owner’s words were ignorant and arrogant, making us feel like we were begging them while they made money off us.
We simply got up and left! When dining out, it’s all about having a pleasant and relaxing experience. Customers bring them business; we don’t owe them anything. If there were an option to give zero stars or a negative score, I would definitely choose that. Unfortunately, the lowest I can give is one star, which they don't even deserve!
Just a heads-up for everyone: with so many options in Eastwood, there’s no need to waste your money and endure such...
