Thai one up Ramsgate Beach

We generally order take out from Thai one up, with pad thai and tom khai gai making a dining table appearance. The prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good.

One warm summer evening we decided that the dine in option was on the cards and grabbed a table in the scantily occupied restaurant. Despite there being only a few customers, the customers that they did have were rather a boisterous and seemed to be enjoying themselves quite a lot! With only limited options of where to sit in the restaurant, I chose the table as far away from them as possible, hoping for a little calm.

The staff here are friendly and our order was taken pretty quickly from the brightly laminated menus. After a short wait the food arrived hot and smelling delicious and was quickly eaten as we were starving. The flavours here are OK but not extraordinary and decent enough for a late night meal. The price for 2 without wine was a very reasonable $38 which left us with full bellies and sweaty brows from the humid evening and chilli fired offerings.

Efficient and fast Thai restaurant. Very friendly staff. I really enjoyed the garlic tofu veggie stir fry. They use soft tofu that has been lightly fried which is fantastic vs other places that use the sponge like tofu. Rice was cooked perfectly not too dry or soft.

I had a pleasant dinner here, this was by no means a fine dining Michelin starred restaurant but it is a great little local Thai restaurant. The restaurant had a steady flow of dinners on a Monday evening. How some can leave reviews with the words ‘revolting’ and ‘disgusting’ is beyond me. Sure, the food might be not be to some people’s taste but to leave a review with such ugly words for a family run business is absolutely‘revolting’ to me.

This Thai restaurant is very close to the beach with nice surroundings.

It was quite busy when we arrived at the restaurant on Friday night, but they managed to place us in for a seating as we just rocked up randomly!

The service was very friendly & attentive.

I ordered the soft crab papaya salad & fish cake.

The papaya salad & fish cake didn’t taste so authentic, but it was nice, but it didn’t blow my mind.

This restaurant didn’t have any desserts in their menu also, that is an important factor for me 🤣🤣 oh well! I will go somewhere else...
