Dropped by for a coffee with friends mid morning on a Saturday. It wasn’t that busy, it was cold outside but the sun was warming. We ordered and paid for our coffees and lapped up the sunlight. It looks like either the barista was having a shocker of a day, or they’re still trying to figure out the difference between a flat white and a cappuccino. My large cappuccino came with no chocolate sprinkles. That’s the whole point of ordering a cappuccino. If I didn’t want the chocolate I’d order the flat white. We asked the waitress nicely to confirm if this was the cappuccino and she said yes. So we asked nicely for some chocolate. The coffee came back about 5 minutes later covered in chocolate. It was cold by then. Not really the best foot forward for a coffee shop. I’d rather have coffee with service and a smile next door at the Affogato coffee shop. They are much nicer people. Update. Owner is clearly mistaken and trying to blame the customer. Wrong group. They can’t even admit they served the wrong coffee. I definitely ordered a cappuccino. I don't order flat whites. My friend ordered a skim cap. I would've been happy to call and explain to them, but I think the tone of the reply says it all about customer service. TLDR: Life is to short to put up with bad service, or to waste time with cranky uptight owners. Get a coffee a Double Cross Expresso where they are always smiling and friendly.

Took 40 minutes for a wrap. Was about the same size as a mini wrap at mcdonalds, but had less fillings and cost $13 (in reply to owner yes it was the correct venue. Bean Drinking in crows nest. Near milky lane burgers and professor plums. Your online menu says $13 - perhaps it was $12 i cant remember exactly. However i do remember being rather surprised when the food arrived at how small it was in comparison to price) Another add on - your online order system shows your Wraps to be $13 to be pre ordered even when pick up or dining in - perhaps you recently increased prices? (see attached screenshot) or perhaps you increase prices for online orders even when they are pick up? Again update to owners reply- yes i updated what i wrote when I realised i was in error. Which was maybe a few minutes at most. I will be sure to visit again so i can upload a picture of your enormous $12 Wraps soon. Thank you for your kind offer. The coffees seem to be sourced from various regions and most reviews seem to say its good. I'm not really a coffee drinker but this could be good for coffee lovers, i dont really recommend ordering food here since there are so many good options in crows nest. I did enjoy the hot xocolatl Its also dog friendly

Great cafe overlooking the green 'square,' perfect to have the dog/some prams/parent get together with the kids running around on the grass etc. FOOD: Amazing array of salads, sandwiches, wraps, dishes etc with ample vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options... And yes they're very gf awarešŸ‘Œ They even have a lovely assortment of gf cakes and slices (not the typical orange almond meal item most non gf places have). Very fresh and well plated up. PRICES: Very reasonable, think $10-20 for most meals. STAFF: Absolutely lovely. They didn't seem to know the menu much but were happy to help out where they could. INTERIOR: Rustic modern vibe with lots of seating available. ACCESSIBILITY: Bathrooms and cafe are both wheelchair/walker/pram accessible. The toilets are located opposite, in the Crows Nest Community centre, via a ramp. Parking available at the local pay station for free for a couple of hours or street parking available. It's right near a corner lane which makes it easy to drop people off before parking too. Bus stops, 1 minute walk away. OVERALL: Would definitely recommend and will be back with friends.

I don't usually write reviews but given a certain incident when last caffeinating at this glorious establishment I had to make an exception.

This is in case Bean Drinking suffers any online repercussions for my actions.

There is pride in Bean Drinking in the quality of offering that they put forward. This is reflected in the consistency and quality of both their coffee and food.

Furthermore, the staff at Bean Drinking are awesome. They are warm, attentive, and hospitable. It's a vibe that suits the family oriented suburb of crows-nest.

Every experience I've had at Bean Drinking has been expectably and consistently great. However my experience with a particular customer recently has been less so.

I believe that sometimes we forget that the people that are looking after us at a given establishment are, in fact, people.

There is a pretty easy system at place at bean drinking. Order and pay at the counter. This keeps things simple. One customer however decided she wanted to order at the table. It's not that this is a big deal, but in a busy cafe when you mess with the systems in place you have to expect a delay. That is, what you order won't immediately appear. This is something that a particular customer didn't seem to grasp and when her order didn't come out within 5 seconds proceeded to be extremely rude to the staff.

I want to stress that the staff handled this very professionally. They were polite, and got the customers toast to them immediately. I however did not think the customers behaviour was appropriate and I told them. This probably seemed a bit weird to them, but I think sometimes people can be a bit indulged by the people who are payed to serve. A person is a person, and just because they are payed to be hospitable doesn't mean you have the right to be disrespectful towards them.

What I did probably led to that customer having a negative experience. And if they do write an online revue that is negative I want that to be seen as my fault, and in no way a reflection of the quality of Bean Drinking. I am a regular, I love this place, and would hate to see what I did negatively affect the business in any way.

In conclusion, Bean Drinking is awesome, and it's worthy of...

Very disappointing experience.

It was our first visit, we walked past and thought we'll try this cafe.

After waiting for a while on the beef Burger, I went up to enquire and asked if the burger hasn't been made we can cancel the order and it's ok.

At that point the man at the cash register asked me to swipe my card again as it apparently didn't go through. I said can I please have the declined slip ,to which he said no. I then said how about let me check whether my bank account has been deducted of the funds yet. Turns out it has. At this point, all he said was an "oh ok". No apologies or anything. I suggested to him that next time when such cases arise, instead of swiping the card straight away, it would've been more appropriate to do some checks first. Wow, did I not expect what follows. He became so aggressive and defensive. Extremely disappointing attitude for someone in the service industry who can't even treat people with basic respect. Do not come here and run if you see it's him (Sebastian) behind the counter.

Response to owner's comment:

I expected you to be defensive (not surprising given other posts have had the same experience. But what I did not expect was you to turn around and blatantly lie on what had occurred. I would question the so called "witnesses" you mentioned. I wonder if any of them include your employees.

It is clear whatever further I comment here will just result with your further attack. I am more than happy to come in and have a recorded interview to state the facts on what really happened. You can even pull up security tv which will back up what I posted originally. I welcome if you want to take legal action re libel.

I also note it's convenient you omitted to address the root cause of the issue which is your staff requesting payment again without first checking whether it was already taken, followed by rude manner once i've corrected him and provided my feedback.

You need to work on controlling your emotion as you clearly have a chip on your shoulders which is evident from other...

Reply to response from owner: Thank you for your polite response. As stated and to confirm, the one star is for the poor communication customer service experience and coffee quality. We understand that you do not allow crockery on the grass.

Original review: I have never posted a negative review but unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience this morning.

We ordered a masala chai tea and matcha chai latte to have in, there was only a four seater table left outside so we thought we would leave this for a family/group and sat on the grass embankment connected to the outdoor seating area. We communicated this to the polite team member taking our order when ordering which she confirmed was fine, and confirmed what crockery size I'd like and gave us a table number. When our drinks arrived they were in paper take-away cups, we were surprised as we were expecting crockery. Rather than asking for the drinks to be re-made we asked for two tea cups so we could at least pour them in. The team member returned and politely let us know that the management said we were not allowed to have crockery on the grass. This is fair enough however there was no communication prior to our drinks being prepared and essentially our order was modified without being asked. Management also looked apathetic toward the team member who passed on our feedback that it would have been nice to be asked.

Unfortunately as began to drink our $8 masala chai tea and $7 matcha latte, they were also disappointing. The masala chai tea had not been steeped for very long and was very diluted/watery, and the latte had very flat milk. We chose not to directly give feedback about the drinks due to the negative experience we'd had asking for crockery and giving feedback about this. We can appreciate the reasoning for for take-away cups however hope this feedback will encourage better communication and be constructive for preparing masala chai tea and matcha lattes in the future....
