Valentines Day food poisoning. Saving grace was the legendary Danny McG smiling from behind the gelato counter but otherwise, the old mate owner got into an argument with my group over the inedible pasta, which became a discussion about the Italian authenticity of the dish, and of our mate's Italian mother (why make it personal?), rather than the mere fact that the dish couldn't be swallowed by even the most spice-loving chilli-chomper in our group. Manager was willing to make us pay for half the pasta, and offered chilli-chocolate gelato on top - not sure if this was a piss-take?
Sister & brother-in-law are local Willoughby Rd regulars, whose own dish was $30ea slop, and who had been there before for decent evenings, but never again. She says she's "angry AND disappointed" HA but it has truly been disappointing. Didn't want to cause an issue because Danny is a legend & bad vibes are bad vibes, but his bossman has no perspective on customer service and the negative flow-on consequences of treating dissatisfied patrons terribly, when we were otherwise happy to pay for the wine & the slop. And why would he question our mate's mum's Italian-ism? She's not even Italian, it's his dad who's from Napoli ya spaz.
Brother-in-law is now vomiting and my mouth is still burning from the three fork-fulls I managed, but life was too bitter to soothe myself with their gelato, even if Danny were to have served it smiling - who offered to pay the difference in front of his boss. I'm conflicted because he's a legend but the bossman is sht.
This is the first bad review I've ever written for anything....
Read moreBravo Trattoria is an Italian restaurant which we stopped by for dinner on our way back to Sydney. The setting is very casual and has a very heart-warming environment. Our dining experience was excellent. The waitress that served us definitely made us feel special and was very courteous to all our needs.
We ordered pasta and pizza. They taste very different, and extremely rich and creamy in texture. Later I realised that the pasta are made in house. The firmness of the pasta is just right. Not to firm, not too soggy. Very impressive.
The pizza we had I must recommend for you to try is the "Rucola E Prosciutto". The cheese and the ham was just a superb taste. Cannot describe it in words... You simply have to try it if you are pizza fan.
I would like to compliment our waitress at Bravo Trattoria (I should have asked her name) for her timely service and the cooks for the excellent food. I am a big fan of Italian cuisine. This restaurant is definitely one of my favourite in Sydney.
The only thing I did not like about the place was that the sitting were a little tight/uncomfortable during my visit (dine in as five guests). I believe due to Covid-19 social distancing rules, tables were spread out and arranged to maximise distance between them. This may not allow Bravo Trattoria to set up comfortable large table. I hope they able to have more comfortable table which sits 4+ people in the near future as I love to bring...
Read moreService was a joke and the food was average. Entree was served after our main was almost finished, and only after two reminders, which in itself we were willing to let go. The real problem was that my husband nearly swallowed glass from his soft drink. He sucked it up his straw, a thin shard around 2cm long! After coughing it back up amongst blood and terrifying me in the process, I called a waitress over who took the glass and looked horrified. She said she would get the manager. When the manager eventually meandered over after a good 15 minutes, she said "I hear one of you got glass in your drink... that's weird". I was dumfounded by the response. An apology was not forthcoming, but she did ask whether we wanted to purchase another drink. Obviously we didn't- we wouldn't even drink the first ones we ordered! Who would want to risk puncturing their throat a second time? We asked for the bill and discovered that the two cokes we ordered were still on there. As a matter of principle, and still thinking that it must just be an error, we asked for the coke that contained glass at least to be removed from the bill. The manager stared blankly and indignantly responded "well... we were going to give you a free gelato cone", as though this solved the problem. Worst service I have ever experienced. Complete and utter farce of a restaurant. Management should be...
