We had a disappointing experience The food was amazing but unfortunately the service was poor From the moment we arrived we felt we were an imposition The waiter ignored us whilst he typed Something on the computer which was fine if he had just turned around and said he was just finishing something He then continued to go off and finish what he was doing before asking us if he could help us We were then offered seats next to a lot of families even though I had stated on the online booking that my mother had a hearing aid and would appreciate something quiet We were then moved to a table in front of the fire which was ridiculous I asked if we could go in the first column of tables where we have been seated many times only to be told there was no waiter to serve that section Eventually a lovely female waitress came over and offered to move us when she realized how hot we were ( and would you believe it was into the section where the other waiter had said we could not sit) The service continued to be fairly pathetic I poured our wine We did get offered water once We were made to feel lowly because we chose to have tap water Meanwhile the food was amazing Even though we only had one course We both don’t have a big appetites so only wanted one course but felt singled out because of this and especially when the waiter made a point of telling us we were having tap water when he came by Really if you want people to come to you surely you should have wait staff that realize that people like us do tip big if the service is good and that locals that live close by could come very regularly ( my mother who lives around the corner comes a few times a year) and I live in Brisbane and still have come quite a number of times when visiting my mum Look after everyone you never know who they are and even if they only order one course you may get a much bigger tip from them that...
Read moreThis is one of my luckiest finds on my food travels, no words can explain the majestic-ness of this hidden gem.. uncannily friendly staff who go above and beyond. I’ve visited this place 3 times , so I could try their different styles, according to the time day and to experience how the atmosphere changed in different settings.
The first visit was brunch with a friend, the atmosphere reminded me of a Cosmo cafe I visited in the south of France many moons ago, the food was exquisite and homely in every aspect, from visual presentation through to the service from staff and the most nice gentlemen, Roy, that I’ve ever met who was legitimately interested in each person and conversing with them and was seemingly comfortable talking to you, as though you were two old friends, unseen for many years… this gentleman smile was as big as his heart and he alone made me feel. I was less of a customer and more of a friend.
our second visit , was for the cocktail lounge part of this restaurant called JUNIPER LANE, needless to say, my lady friend felt like a Queen as she sophisticatedly sampled her way through the cocktail list in one of the most relaxed atmosphere’s I’ve ever experienced in a cocktail section / Lounge ( cue French cafe music with a slower tempo ) and we staff who were quite skilled in producing said cocktails as well as serving them.. cue etiquecy..
And on our most recent visit , we went for-the dinner menu, where the atmosphere not only portrayed sophistication of a culinary Guru and the intimacy of a stolen kiss from a child hood sweet heart.. but it has, as they say, Good vibes and friendly staff… if your ever on the northern beaches, I implore you to visit this wonderful, Hidden Gem, any time of day or night, weather for food or a cheeky cocktail, as it will be impossible to be...
Read moreI cannot fault my experience with Bistro Mosman! I booked here for my mum’s 65th birthday/retirement with 10 guests (including her), and the service I experienced was flawless. Lorraine, my point of contact, was professional, friendly and efficient on the phone, patiently discussing with me the different options for the set menu and suggesting spot-on advice as to how to customise my order for the number of people I had attending. On the day, her instincts of when to serve which course were perfect. We had some appetisers, entrees, a main and then of course, dessert. We supplemented the dessert options for the “Fraisier” strawberry and cream sponge cake, and it was the perfect finish - not too heavy, even after our very large and leisurely meal, and just the perfect note to finish on. Favourite dishes throughout the afternoon were: Barossa chicken liver pate (entree), Sydney rock oysters (canapé), French onion tart (canapé), duck sausage roll (canapé), l’endives (canapé - divine!!!) and the les gnocchi (main). Overall, it was a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by all, especially my mum, who hadn’t eaten French cuisine in years! On other points, the food was served promptly, Lorraine attended us beautifully, the room had a lovely ambience of being not too crowded or too empty (Sunday lunch booking), parking was easy and accessible, even for a larger party, and though it was a reasonably warm day for September and we were by the gorgeous windows, everyone stayed a very comfortable temperature throughout the meal. I would give 6 or 7 stars if I could! We will...
