I have never left a negative review like this in my life.
Don’t really wish to give this place any stars at all after the interaction I’ve just had with them.
Standing in an orderly queue would surely indicate that people would be served at their turn. Instead, the woman at the counter decides to serve the lady BEHIND me. I’m a little confused as to why exactly that would happen. Then as another server tries to take my order, the woman at the till counter continues to talks over me to get the lady’s order who is behind me. The woman who I can assume might be a manager makes no attempt to apologise for completely ignoring me (even though I’m standing right at the front of the counter).
I can’t help but think I was the only person of colour at that time being served, not a good look for Bourke st in neutral bay. Even if there were no racist intentions, that is how it came across.
Definitely will not be coming back here and would highly recommend people go to the more highly reviewed numerous cafes around this area. Bourke st in north Sydney is amazing but the neutral bay staff display absolutely zero skills in hospitality and how to make each of their customers feel valued. Poor treatment- that too on a festive holiday such as...
Read moreVery nice pastries especially the creme brulee / lemon tarts which at over 6 bucks each is a little overpriced imo. Lovely pies, rolls and coffee!
Am revising the rating from 4 to 2-stars as latest visit (Aug 2018) is marred by horrible service. In fact I will not be visiting the neutral bay bakery in future. The lady serving me gave me the impression that she is in a nasty mood and was unwilling to explain why the small chocolate cake must be sold whole. She acted in an almost offensive manner while serving me just because one member of our gang expressed disappointment at the almost empty pastry cabinet (afterall it was 3:30pm on a Sat afternoon). This level of customer service is unacceptable anywhere let alone at a...
Read moreSearching for delectable sweet and savoury baked goods on the North Shore? Look no further than Bourke Street Bakery in Neutral Bay, one of many of these bakeries around Sydney, and this particular spot doesn't let the franchise down. My absolute favourite things include: their lamb, almond and harissa sausage rolls and their lemon curd tarts. They've also got a selection of pizzas, sandwiches, pies and quiches if you fancy something savoury. As for beverages, grab a homemade lemonade from the fridge or enjoy a coffee in their ample outside seating area. On my way out I also purchase their soy and linseed sourdough...
