Been wanting to try this restaurant ever since my friend told me how amazing it the interiors were. She used to work here so if she raved about it then it must be something special. The Royal Hotel is a combination of pub and the Botanical restaurant. It was a little confusing finding the restaurant, but it’s easy to navigate once you realise it’s all connected. There is entrance on norton street and one up the stairs from the pub. While the pub has a very standard “pub feel”, as you manoeuvre through to the restaurant you will see more of the botanical decor, leafy carpets, fresh flowers and green plants, green walls, and wicker seating on the balcony. Very eager to get into the food and drink, for the menu appears to have the kind of food I love to eat. We tried the salmon tartare, beer battered fish tacos, the Wednesday special beef pie with mash, braised lamb shoulder, miso salmon, and for the dessert we had the sticky date pudding. For drinks we had The Secret Garden and Berry Zest. Both were easy to drink, the Zest had a bit of oomph. Highly recommend this place for food and drink. Can’t wait to come back!

The stars are for the nice layout of the venue and the manager on duty today upstairs. The birds that gather around the balcony and sit right next to you was not a nice welcome, then to be given a carafe of water that had residue stuck to the inside from previous use, menu was not vegan friendly nor was the waiter. I ordered a halloumi salad $21 and asked if the cheese could be replaced with avocado or chicken, the waiter was going to find out and let me know… though instead the dish was brought to my friend and I. I was given chicken +$6 and avocado +$4 and my friends dish had halloumi which was sliced so thinly it was not even recognisable. I had one small piece of the blood orange in the salad and the chicken was not edible. I later informed the waiter when he passed us and he said nothing was wrong with it. When the manager came over to clear the plates I informed her and she admitted the chicken was microwaved (as I suggested just by the look and texture) - she removed the extra charges off the bill, though the menu is not appealing and after these little mishaps that was not a hospitality standard by the waiters and food served, I won’t be returning again.

Nice clean and fun venue. Good COVID safety. Service staff very friendly and accommodating. Drinks Not a large selection on tap in the upstairs bar (8 maybe with one cider) but what was there was a combination of local and craft breweries from the inner west. $8 for a schooner. Food Ordered the salt and pepper squid, chicken tacos and chicken katsu burger for two people. Squid was a little dry and I had to ask for sauce to go with my chips and burger but service staff were very accommodating when I did ask. Chicken katsu burger was awesome. Good size piece of chicken and the tacos were tasty. Would add an additional taco for $4 if you are hungry as 2 might not be enough. Total price for 2 people about $80 (2 drinks each and a meal) Overall the vibe is nice in the upstairs balcony bar for a Saturday afternoon drink and meal with friends

This is a nice traditional pub in the centre of inner SYDNEY. Located on beautiful Norton st Leichhardt with plenty of local parking and amidst foodie heaven with a number of other traditional restaurants and cafes which are institutions. Food is of good quality and menu of a good variety A tad on the pricy side especially for pub food but the quality is good. Great sticky date puddings though for those with a sweet tooth! Very busy place so make sure you book ahead. This also impacts their level of service as they don’t appear to have enough staff to cater for peak demand periods. Great venue for a casual meal with rooms available for private functions. They cater for small weddings with the atmosphere conducive to small quaint parties out to celebrate and enjoy special occasions. Would recommend to try for yourself to see.

This is a good local pub and worth a visit. Plenty happening here with good sports coverage with multiple TV screens. A few different places to sit depending on what you want to watch. There are also a number of tables looking onto the street providing an opportunity to have a quieter spot for a good catch up with mates. We had the pie, mushy pies and mash which was tasty. They also have specials offers on every day at $16 per for a steak or schnitzel which includes a beer or glass of house wine. Just had another dinner here and the special a salad with grilled chicken and avocado excellent, Cesar salad awesome! Bathroom clean. Love from Local Guide🧡 Like me if helpful

Friends and I are Sunday roasting around Sydney. This was our second spot to try and it's going to be very hard to top the generous and amazingly delicious lamb roast we had! Run, don't walk. Amazing. Juice and perfectly roasted meat and veg and yorkshire puddings! $28 for the roast. Balcony wasn't too hectic, and super warm and cosy even on a dreary day. Wine by the glass was reasonably priced and several options for each of the white/reds. Staff were friendly and got things done efficiently. Would happily go back!
