I stumbled across Thainamic with my boss during lunch, and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found — a true hidden gem in the heart of Leichhardt. We both ordered the laksa, and I have to say, it was unlike any laksa I’ve had in Sydney. And that’s saying something!
The broth was thicker, creamier, and had a strong coconut-forward flavour that gave it a slightly sweet and rich profile. It wasn’t your typical laksa, but that’s what made it so interesting. It felt like a bold twist on a classic — and it totally worked. It was flavourful, comforting, and felt like a unique take that you don’t often get in the usual Thai spots.
The service was quick, the place was quiet and welcoming, and the overall vibe made it a great spot for a relaxed, no-fuss meal. Pricing was more than fair for the quality and portion size — definitely matched the value we received.
A couple of small things kept this from being a 5-star review: we both agreed that the laksa could’ve used a bit more heat. If we had asked for it spicier, I imagine they’d have obliged — so that one’s partly on us! Also, the crispy pork belly, while cooked well and satisfying in texture, was a tad too salty for our taste.
That said, I’d still absolutely come back to explore more of their menu — especially if you’re after Thai food with a slightly different twist. Thainamic is one of those places that flies under the radar but deserves to be on...
Read moreOrdered this evening at 5pm for 6pm pickup. Got the notification at exactly 6pm to say it was ready. I only live 15 doors away. Arrive at 6:02 but order hasn’t even started to be cooked. Mind you, paid extra as expected for public holiday surcharge. Not impressed. Anyway, the pork belly and Asian greens was lovely but overpriced. The portion size has shrunk since I had the exact same thing few weeks ago. The yellow chicken curry was cold. $5 for a single thin roti is criminal charging that much. Pricing is far too expensive for take away because the portion sizes are much smaller than if you were to eat in but same cost. Such a shame because it’s literally a very local establishment and I believe in supporting small businesses and the food is normally really nice and I usually eat here a couple of times a month but I won’t be back unfortunately. There are far better priced places available not out to rip...
Read moreThe ambience here is nice but that's about the nicest thing I can say about it. The food is incredibly ordinary. Edible, but considering the price, you'd hope for something slightly nicer than edible. The prawns were dry, over cooked, and tasteless. The pastry on the curry puffs was thick and soggy. My food had multiple hairs in it, so someone in the kitchen isn't practising proper hygiene. Our mains came at all different times, despite the restaurant being only a quarter full, which made for an awkward dining experience. All in all, there are definitely better Thai restaurants in Sydney to spend...
