Cafe Nino — Restaurant in Sydney

Came here for the first time last week for a work dinner and it lives up to everything that my bosses rave about. For someone who’s ambivalent about seafood, I have to admit that they serve top notch & freshest gems from the sea. I love the Mussels served in Tomato Base Cream Sauce, dip some bread in the sauce, it tasted so good I had to have seconds! Also the Garlic Prawns were delish...For mains, i chose the Fettucine Scampi (but swapped out with soaghetti instead) and it was absolutely delicious!! The scampi’s so fresh, the flesh tasted sweet! Have enjoyed coffees and meals here for decades, BUT after last Saturday there’s no return.... We found ourselves lining up behind 2 other groups of customers. These groups were seated by the waitress. We were left standing there, so decided to sit at an available table. A few minutes later I politely waved to the same waitress and asked for the table to be cleared of used plates. It was then we were told, “IN FUTURE wait to be seated.” My husband replied, “There might not be a future.” Minutes later feeling unwelcome we got up and left and chose to go elsewhere, never to return again. I love everything about Nino’s, it’s my favourite spot to bring friends and family. We have been coming here for many years. Claire and Claude are amazing. Claire makes you feel right at home, she is always so friendly and lovely. The atmosphere and decor is warm and inviting. I always have to have the mussels and garlic prawns, with loads of bread to soak up their delicious sauces. I have been ordering the spaghetti vongole since I was 15 years old, and it has not changed! It’s beyond. The tiramisu is the best I’ve ever had.
