We stopped at Cafe on Strand because the charming location caught our eye: nestled on a corner with tables shaded by a beautiful big tree, it feels like a step back in time, with an elegant art deco vibe. The café is impeccably maintained, clean, and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, a friendly staff member greeted us with a smile, and the service was impressively quick. I enjoyed reading the daily newspaper and admiring the peaceful street view through the large glass window while we waited.
The fish and chips were simply divine; the fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and even the chips, which I don’t usually like, were cooked to perfection. The salad was delicious, thanks to the amazing dressing. We finished our meal with an excellent café crema that was the perfect touch of sweetness.
Rosa, the owner, approached us after our meal, and it was delightful to chat with her and learn a bit about the café's history. Her warm personality truly added to the experience. I’ll definitely be back to try the thick Italian hot chocolate she recommended. Don’t hesitate if you're thinking of visiting. Café Strand is highly...
Read moreThis is my first time coming into the restaurant. I ended up walking in there purely because when I looked in it felt lovely and just something you would see on whimsical rainy day walking. The ambience felt warm and it drew me in.
I ordered the Linguine with pasta and it was amazing. They managed to put a lovely balance to the flavours making flavourful light and so very fresh. There is a lovely slight after taste perhaps lemon (which I'm not a fan of normally) but this after taste makes one wants to have another spoonful!
When I told the server that I normally eat linguine with chilli oil and I thought I would miss it but their linguine was lovely adventure on the palette, he went and got me chilli oil! Found them so attentive and personal.
And if you love cold coffee...you should definitely have their Crema Cafe which just touches the spot for your dessert kick without feeling overwhelmed with the sweet.
Excellent value for money. Though can one actually put a price to having some soul food that warms the heart?
Well done to the team! Hope it continues bringing in some family warmth and good...
Read moreI've been to many cafes, but my recent experience at Cafe on Strand truly stood out. I went in for a classic big breakfast and a coffee, and it was, in a word, spectacular. The big breakfast was a feast for the eyes and the stomach. Everything was cooked to perfection: the bacon was crispy but not burnt, the eggs were beautifully runny, and the sausage had a fantastic flavor. I'm a bit of a stickler for the little things, and they nailed it—the toast was perfectly golden, and the hash browns were crispy without being greasy. It was a generous portion without being overwhelming, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. And the coffee? It was the perfect partner to the meal. Rich, smooth, and expertly made, it hit the spot and wasn't bitter or weak. The combination of the amazing food and the great coffee made my meal at Cafe on Strand one of the best I've had in a long time. If you're in the area and craving a top-notch breakfast, I can't recommend this place enough. I'll definitely be back to try more...
