Hotel Saravana Bhavan — Restaurant in Sydney

Went with a large group of friends to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Probably the best Indian meal I’ve had in Sydney for ages! The hosts are absolutely wonderful. And the food was just fabulous! There was so much variety, but personally my favourites were the sizzling prawns - with fresh curry leaves, mustard seeds etc; the Goan fish curry was the best I’ve ever tried, and the malai kofta -the kofta cheese balls were like clouds of heaven! The rest of the guests shared goat curry, a variety of paneer dishes, chicken and lamb - everyone raved about the food. The bread was fabulous. In fact everything was superb! We have lived here for 5 years and have never tried this place so we bought take out.

My teen really loved the butter chicken with fresh big garlic naan. Lamb chops are chunky and worth the money with a lil side of lime/lemon and a yoghurt dip and crunchy cabbage. All blends in well together and the Chicken korma medium hot is nice.

Maybe should've asked for hot as it was nice as well. We will go here again for sure!

Meals are under $30, garlic naan round $5.90 also extra for rice.

Plenty of seating for you and friends/family or great for a corporate get together.

First this is not the Saravana Bhavan chain in South India and they don't claim it to be. So if you were looking for authentic south Indian cuisine this is not the place for you. You need to reserve tables here but was happy to be accommodated. The staff is courteous and hence the 3 stars. You also get parking nearby which is good. Now to the main part - The food - is not that good. The Biriyani we ordered felt too dry and burnt and it felt like it was reheated in a microwave. The curry was not flavourful.
