EFTPOS Available $138 something Credit card details are required upon booking. This makes it so much easier. I ordered all the starters, 2 entrees (leek vinaigrette + mushroom salad) and main (House made sausage). All divine! Thank you for a wonderful evening, slowly eating my way through the menu. I definitely will return and perhaps, with my date, once I have a lady to bring (*wink*). You helped with my research (*wink*). Old school 80's/90's hits pumping in the background with the occasional, rapper and independent cover. Waiting staff are incredibly attentive. Newtown establishments are well known for their customer service and speed. Please come! Winter menu being served currently. This arrangement changes with the seasons, please come try. Mr. Attentive helped me choose which items Ms. Smiley was such a joy to talk to. Mr. Slickback Hair worked the bar, the table was always clean. Ms. 'Constantly stirring, capping bottles/ tasting' was always on high alert. Mr. Widerimmed Black glasses helped everyone. Ms. 'I will refill all the glasses/restock' covered the floor. Ms. 'No one has a hairbun more elegant than mine' walked from kitchen to floor throughout the evening. Wonderful effort team Nightlife is certainly entertaining with cheap eats like ice cream, kebabs, catch a show at theatre and live music. There's plenty to see and eat throughout the many suburbs of Surry Hills, Paddington, Camperdown, Newtown, Redfern and Haymarket.

So disappointed with our last experience here, used to love coming here but now just feel like we are paying for their expansion and nothing else! 3 of us ate, we shared a prosciutto plate, truffle salami plate (both were served on the same plate and had at most 4 or so of each slices). We had 3 slices of sourdough, a cheese plate where the cheese was served way too cold and therefore had no flavour , a bowl of olives, 3 drinks, one of which was a coke, the waiter filled a slim Jim glass half full of coke the rest ice cubes and we were charged $6:60 for half a glass of coke! We eat out regularly around Sydney and completely understand the cost of eating out and how hard working the people in this industry are. It is a very difficult time for the hospitality industry right around the country and not only Sydney. We understand having been in the business ourselves that one plate you make a good margin on to deliver another plate for far less margin in order to stay in business, but it is not the case here. So many great restaurants are closing because it is such tough times, they don’t even make the margins back on their wine lists like they did in the past, but at least in those days you got left the whole can of coke and not just a half glass. I again just felt so ripped off leaving, it was disgraceful!! So sad about a place that I used to love. We won’t be back or be visiting your new establishments after our experience today.

Recently, ive had a 5* experience here...next, my first ...More show than go. Feels good, looks good, tastes ok....kingfish was poorly cut, not fresh and the very good capsicum puree didn't save it, but it looked great. Cauliflower replaced the broccoli, but was under caramelised and soft enough to plug a drain, temporarily until it would disintegrate. Salad with caesar dressing was a very loose and bland interpretation. The prawns were excellent, as required at $14 each. The bread and olive oil, the highlight...its a good place, I've been three times. But its just not noteworthy for the quality, execution or creativity of the food...that matters. More about the reviewer? I used to own and operate hotels and restaurants, for myself and others, from fine dining to cafes and take away shops. In the second half of life now, I'm lucky that I was good enough to make enough to leave the industry I love to the next gen. A qualified chef, uni educated in hospo in the states, I love this industry, which I see as ever improving. How lucky we are! Enjoy the reviews...5* to anywhere id happily return. 4* for somewhere i would return to if it works...the rest? Nup.

Went here as a family of 3 looking for a meal in the rain, went there was offered crammed up, disheartening terribly small seats that made the atmosphere akward, the people around and serving gave judgemental glares, we had ordered a gin and tonic, coke, and amaro and once served them were given a half glass of coke then put the bottle back in the fridge most of the glass was filled to the brim with ice leaving almost no space for their to be any substance and was charged 6:50 for it, the tonic was only filled with gin and 2/3 of it was actually poured into the glass leaving barely any drink, then the sparkling water we were given wasn’t even sparkling and probably just came from their tap, we were charged 16:50 for those waters that were barely touched and were in miniature glasses how much of a cheapskate are they. Ordered Cheauterie board that was just 4 slice cheese and crackers for a inflated price and lacked flavour and finesse, too cold that you felt like you were still outside miserable in the rain, made the meal feel even less content in our hearts. Was served a plate of salami and porschitto with minimal pickles and vegetables and had breadsticks on there that looked so out of place and stupid like they just did a blind toss and it landed on our plate. Was served four slices of sourdough and a small serving of butter for 15 dollars utter ripoff if you ask me, the chocolate ganache cake to their fortune was delicious and probably just about worth the 24 dollars we were charged unlike the rest of the meal and drinks. The time we spent there made us all unhappy and ruined our family bonding time happy mood. Was charged 190 overall for a small plates that seemed to been given minimal effort. This whole place seemed like a place trying to grab money to pay for their useless expansion and from that are cutting down on what they promise to people when they enter their doors and spend their hard...

After hearing many great things about this place and winning the 'best bar of the year award' 2016/2017, I came to check this place out.

I ordered the 'Baked verioch cheese with polish sausage and olives' and a negroni (in a tin). 20 mins later, another waiter came and asked us if we were ready to order. We informed him that we had placed our orders, when he checked, he realised that the order wasn't put through. So we had to wait another 20mins for the dish to be cooked...

We eventually got our dish after SIXTY-FIVE MINUTES later with no apologies. And I never got my negroni cocktail either.

Such a disappointment. With no apologies from the waiters either. The Baked verioch cheese with polish sausage and olives that finally came was average.. It was very salty and after waiting for Sixty-five minutes, it was a great disappointment. Unsatisfied and still freakin hungry. For $45, the size of the dish was incredibly small. It looks nothing like what the top food bloggers had posted on their social media mediums. Ohhh and we also had to ask for the sour dough THREE TIMES.. Which eventually arrived Eighty-five minutes later..

I understand that although a place may be busy at times but a bar that won 'the best bar of the year' should not neglect customer service and allow any customer to wait over one hour for their food and drinks to arrive. Customers that arrived after us got their food and drinks well before us. If I was a secret food critic, this place would be rated 1/2 star.

I wouldn't recommend this...
