Crocodile Farm Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

Used to be the best tap beer in Ashfield, now it tastes like they have forgotten how to clean their beer lines. I am talking seriously yeasty, rotten type flavours in the lager that I used to come here to avoid. I used to come here because on this side of the railway, Croc Farm used to always be perfect in comparison to RSL and Ashfield Hotel. Today, I honestly hate to admit it but it's bloody disgusting. Add on top of that they seem to have closed the bistro. So just another "pokie den" added to Sydney's list. They fired all the exceptional staff they used to have that made this place so good. Easily the best pub food in Ashfield. Don't let the drunks being questioned by police out the front fool you. This bistro is a very high quality bistro with great surrounds. Very friendly and attentive service with a choice of traditional bistro seating or funky crocodile skin look couches. We started with the southwest style wings which was made in house (no frozen trash here) perfectly crumbled with a chipolte sauce. The steak burger was slices of perfectly cooked lean steak on sour dough with salad and pickels. I upgrade my chicken schnitzel (which was also smashed and crumbled in house) to hand cut chips and was not disappointed. A very reasonably priced wine menu (most bottles under $30) helps wash it all down.

We're not from the area, but wound up at the croc farm (probably because the name amused me).

After dinner (which was decent for the $) we had a chat with the bouncer asking what was a good place to go after we finish up here, as we aren't locals.

The guard went above and beyond to give us his time and help us find a new venue to kick on after and threw out recommendations.

It's rare to find such good customer service from a bouncer.

The guy was a legend, if only we could get him to teach the bouncers at our local how to act towards patrons, it would change the image/stigma that "bouncers" have.
