I’ve always loved Guzman y Gomez and was super excited when the Ashfield location opened a few months ago. I usually go there for lunch during my 30-minute break, but today was honestly the worst experience I’ve had.
I ordered a chicken burrito bowl with chips on the side, and it took nearly 30 minutes to be ready. By the time my order was finally called, my break was almost over. I could see the staff working, but it seemed chaotic—piles of orders were just sitting on the side. I even asked multiple times if my order was ready, considering canceling because I wouldn’t have time to eat.
When my number was finally called, the staff member simply grabbed a box that had been sitting there and handed it to me. My meal included a drink and chips, yet I wasn’t even offered a bag to carry everything. To make things worse, the food was cold, and the portion size was smaller than usual.
I understand they were busy, but the service could have been much better with better organization. I’ve eaten at many GYG locations, but this was by far the most disappointing experience. Hope...

I ordered a bowl and specifically told the cashier to include everything except rice, and I also made it clear that I wanted shiitake mushrooms. However, when I opened my bowl, all I found was beef, beans, and tortilla chips—no mushrooms, no veggies, nothing else. When I approached a staff member to point out the mistake, she simply took the bowl and claimed she had added more mushrooms. However, the bowl still lacked the veggies I originally asked for, and she didn’t seem to care at all. There was no apology, no effort to fix the mistake properly, and overall, the staff acted completely indifferent. This kind of service is unacceptable. Read moreVery good food and service at the Guzman y Gomez Ashfield store. Ordered a $12 mini chicken burrito bowl meal deal. Waited 8 minutes to receive food at 1.45pm on a Sunday afternoon. The food was pretty standard for this chain. Bland and only get flavour when you add the hot sauce from the condiments bar. Hot chips were hot and crispy and they werent drowned in the chipotle salt like at other stores.
Staff should switch the A frame signage out the front around when breakfast is over so people can see the lunch deal.
There is a lack of seating inside the restaurant. A huge area is dedicated to a coffee bar which doesn't seem to be very popular. Would be better suited to have more tables or at least solo bar / stool seating there. Interior design is great with the colourful tiles and good latino...
