We visited on a Monday morning at about 10.30am. From the moment we entered I had concerns about the service. They have a sign at the door saying "please wait here to be seated" and so we did, whilst the 4 staff standing around inside just looked at us from the counter at the far side of the room. When one of them decided to take notice of us, they instructed us to "sit anywhere and order at the counter". A little conflicting in the service ideals.....
We sat at one of the beautiful tables crafted from a whole slice of wood from a tree, sanded down and varnished and the more we looked at the table the more we realised how much food and crumbs were stuck in the cracks and crevices of what is actually quite a poorly designed piece of furniture. We did however appreciate the aesthetics of the interior with flowers and greenery contrasting with the industrial ropes, metal and concrete and appreciated the overall design.
The menu is confusing, not your average breakfast/cafe fare. The pulled pork benedict sounded delicious until you realise that its served on a portabello mushroom instead of bread, softshell crab croissant?, Roast pork belly...... We decided to go with the safer/more boring options of acai bowl and ham and cheese croissant for myself and the wakeup sunshine+bacon for my partner. Whilst trying to order the food, My partner was interrupted 3 times, asking what coffees we wanted after each menu item he ordered. If you want to start the order with coffees/drinks then you simply say to the customer "lets start with drinks".....
After ordering and returning to the table, no more than 1 minute later our first coffee arrived. 30 seconds later the 2nd coffee arrived. Fast service is lovely and everything but its a Monday morning and you have 3 tables and 4 servers....Why are you rushing us? The food also came out 1 item at a time and way too quick. First we got the acai bowl that we put down in front of my partner without asking, it wasn't for him. Then just a side of bacon on a plate was put down in front of him. then a croissant was put in front of him, it wasn't his... He asked for the bacon to be put with the full breakfast that he ordered it with, not on a side plate taking space on the quite small table. 1 minute later the breakfast plate arrived with the bacon still on the side plate.....simple requests guys..... It shouldn't be this hard.
We enjoyed the food, the acai bowl was sweet but not too sweet, good texture, nice crunchy toppings and fresh fruits. The breakfast plate had lots of tasty things on it and was very pretty to look at but had too much garnish and unnecessary greenery stacked on top. Bacon was tasty and well cooked.
And then we get to the Croissant. Croissants are supposed to be fluffy and flakey. This was not. The top was soft and cold like it had been taken out of the fridge and microwaved quickly but the cheese inside was melted fully. I proceeded to cut the croissant in half and take a big bite, it was a little cold but it was soft and tasty but then I looked at the rest of the croissant I had in my hand...there was a small insect reversing itself out from the centre of the croissant in between the layers of ham. I didn't make a scene but I took my plate back up to one of the waitresses and quietly informed them of the live bug in my food and that I didn't want a replacement. She came over to me a few minutes later making quiet apologies and returning my $7.50 for the croissant..... Now I'm not the kind of person to stand there and demand a full refund for this oversight in service/food standards but I have worked in customer service for a long time and I know that just refunding the value of the item is not good enough because the customer is going to leave, still angry, and go home to write a review.....
The one redeeming factor of Cuppa flower is that the coffee they serve is delicious but trying to do everything so fast has made the service and food standards just terrible. It is safe to say that we won't...

A friend brought us here. I've always been a fan of the leafy burbs around Alexandria so had a pretty solid expectation on what to expect.
I ordered a meat lover's omelette, and splashed out with an affogato with crunchy honeycomb. Really appreciated the generous serving of mozzarella in my omelette! It kept the omelette well composed throughout my hacking and slashing... Something I'm pretty bad at (honestly can't take me anywhere). Very happy with the balance of bacon, ham and chorizo within the omelette. For the oft' boring old omelette I was very impressed.
As for the affogato, I can see why they're normally reserved for the sweet-toother who might not be enjoying a sizeable meal. It's definitely one of the more instagrammable pieces on the menu. Added, it's not your average morning coffee however worth it even if just for the charmed presentation.
Nat had the Special Rice Noodles because Guilin Style Noodles (and the stinky ones at that) are her favourite dish ever. Of course, this is not the same but we're very pleased that a brekky/brunch place even offers something so askew. For the noodle lover, this is a must. She sweetened things out with a lychee mints iced fizzy which is a great go to for the sweet-toother.
The staff are friendly however may be a little on the inexperienced side. My affogato had been forgotten in the process of ordering which wasn't all for the worse as it's best reserved for the end of the meal anyway... Made for an unexpected coupe we grace.
The setting is an absolute charmer, come for the food, stay for...
Read moreHaving fell in love with this spot on instagram it was my pick in Sydney when a friend we were catching up with asked me to chose a breakfast spot. There are actually two in different locations and it’s such a sweet little concept- beautifully plated delicious food inside a florist. A truly gorgeous atmosphere for a brunch. It’s a pay at the counter style set up and approximately a 15 minute wait (well it was for us, but when we were exiting the line was very lengthy). I spent some time peering at the dishes of nearby tables before deciding on what to order. Everything looked unbelievable! I desperately wanted the pancakes but went for the healthier option of granola which was served with a substantial amount of fruit (more fruit then granola). I also had my first taro latte which no doubt will be the first of many as I absolutely adored the sweet flavour. The latte art was super cute too. We also tried the yummy pink velvet frappe and the corn fritters as well as the salt and pepper calamari and the healthy breakfast. The healthy breakfast was really more of a big breakfast though (you can helpfully ascertain the look of several dishes due to pictures in the menu). The only disappointing choice was the lacklustre calamari. Everything else was perfection. In fact I’ve already recommended it to others I...
