Pizza Deli — Restaurant in Sydney

I had a fantastic meal at Pizza Deli a little while back. It had not long opened and was already packed. With their giant Frenchie motif this venue was one of my fave pizza places before walking in the door. Frenchies are my all time fave dogs so this was going to sit well with me. I just sat there smiling at the wall. It has to be one of the most instagrammed walls in Sydney. The staff are fantastic and the venue is large and bright. It services the Waterloo apartment blocks popping up everywhere and is only a short walk from the Green Square area - this place will be HUGE. The pizzas are fantastic and besides the Szechuan Prawns which I didn't like because my tongue went numb everything was superb. Hot Sopresso Salami, Four Cheese, Pesto Scallops and Proscuitto or Beef Cheek Pizza are all certain to be favourites. I also smashed the BBQ Meat Deluxe and while it is hard to mess up this was a highlight for me. They also offer pastas, their own mousse and no one can say no to a Nutella Calzone!!! Everything is of the freshest and highest quality and mostly everything is made in-house adding to Pizza Deli's appeal. If I lived back in this area I would have a tab at Pizza Deli and I do look forward to returning...

Normally, this place is great. Have been going here for years. Today I ordered via the app which said the order was ready. Arrived and the staff said to wait another 5 mins. 10 mins later I asked how much longer. They said 5 mins. I waited another 10 mins and asked how much longer. The staff said they gave my order away to someone else. I got no apology. He just said to wait 5 mins and my pizzas would be ready. I said it won’t be 5 mins as they hadn’t even started making my order again.

I was extremely disappointed for the mishap which I understand happens. But it was the fact they showed no empathy, received no apology, instead just had stern responses to keep waiting 5 mins. I asked him to refund me and I wasn’t waiting any longer.

Customer service needs to be improved and when mistakes happen, be proactive and take responsibility. I love the pizzas though. Mexican...

We were excited to try Pizza Deli as we’ve heard good things from friends who live nearby (although they have not had it for a while). We ordered the Szechuan Chilli Prawn and Braised Beef Cheek pizza take away. The prawn pizza was ok but quite dry and plain but still edible. While I’m not a very fussy eater, the beef pizza was very dry and was inedible. I asked for it to be replaced with a bbq meatlovers, which was better but still very dry. It seems like some of the toppings are either lacking or in small quantities. Overall not good value for $48 for 2 pizzas and the hassle of going back and forth to replace the pizza. I’m not sure if they are under new management or the oven is too hot or the ingredients are not fresh but seems like something has changed since I heard good reviews about them. I hope they can improve from this...
