La Piazzetta Sydney — Restaurant in Sydney

Whilst the food was nice, the service and overall experience fell short of expectations a disappointing Friday date night spot. Our order took far too long, with several tables who arrived after us receiving their drinks and meals well before we did. What added to the pain was the heat inside and having customers hovering over us at our table as they waited in a long line.

After waiting 20 minutes, I reminded the staff about our drinks, which arrived shortly after. However, entrees took a further 45 minutes and mains another 35 minutes after that. By the time our meals arrived, I was no longer in the mood to eat and ended up taking mine home.

The manager was aware that I was frustrated (without me prompting) and what disappointed me was he disingenuously offered three different explanations for the delays threw out the night, assuring me the food was on its way multiple times. I ordered dessert for my partner for take away as I just wanted to leave. To his credit, he offered to waive the dessert charge, which I declined.

I genuinely hope to return another time and have a better experience, as the food itself deserves a chance to shine but unfortunately, tonight’s overall experience really...

I was slightly disappointed with this restaurant. I have ordered take-away before and this was first time eating in. I went there early before 6pm when it was close to empty and ordered promptly. The entree calamari fritti was fine and came in a reasonable time but then there was a long time before the first prawn pizza arrived, and I noted others who had came in long after me were getting their pizzas first. The pizza itself was quite tasty.

Another long wait before the eggplant special pizza arrived. I had asked if it was vegetarian and was told it was but then it arrived with meat and it had to be changed. Yet more waiting. The eggplant pizza was actually eggplant cream/mashed and not whole eggplant which I prefer, and I couldn’t taste it. The crust was good but the pizza looked pretty sparse for the nearly $30 cost.

I had hoped for a quick, tasty meal but felt there was a lot of waiting and some dishes were not ideal. The price wasn’t super cheap so feel my expectations weren’t unreasonable. Review #1 Congratulations on opening La Piazzetta!

Our party of 5 enjoyed our dining experience very much. The restaurant had a cozy and beautiful ambience. Perfect for such a rainy and chilly evening. Staff were very warm, accommodating, hospitable and helpful. The gnocchi lamb ragu, pizzas and tiramisu were superb. There will be frequent visits for sure to try other dishes, desserts and drinks on the menu.

A friend and I had lunch (my second dining experience at La Piazzetta; 1st time for my friend)

Had a salad, hot salami pizza, a prosciutto ham pianini, almond biscotti, homemade nutella pie and coffee. Everything was delicious. My friend said La Piazzetta may be their new favourite place. Espresso was exceptionally good.
