The original daily bean cafe near all the new apartments before Ed Square opened up was great with amazing workers.
This new one needs better staff. There is one particular lady who works the counter and just seems to hate being there with little to no regard about the cafe's success. After being told to take a seat she had no interest in taking our order but had time to clean a couple of the tables next to us. We waited 15 minutes before leaving.
On a ?positive note another couple also left after being seated and ignored so it wasn't just us being treated this way.
I understand that they may have been short-staffed but she was plain rude and unwelcoming. The cafe owner or someone with an invested interest needs to supervise their staff or this particular worker to make sure they do more than the absolute bare minimum.
Edit: thank you to the owner for acknowledging this review. I do not think there is an option to provide an email address or message you privately.
I was a huge fan of the original Ed Square daily bean and I will acknowledge that my frustrated comments may not be a reflection of the cafe as a whole but particular workers there on a quiet weekday. My advice would be to
Educate workers to let diners know that they can order at the counter when they are ready. This is done at all cafe's that do not have table service. Simply telling persons wanting to dine in to "take a seat" implies that someone will be around to take there order Letting diners know about the QR option to order and not assume that diners are aware or want to use this. It is not the preferred ordering/payment method for everyone and the elderly couple I witnessed leave may not even know how to use this or pay via their phone.
A simple check-in or instructions from workers as they pass by or clean a table a few metres away from you does not hurt and creates a more welcoming environment as opposed to actively avoiding eye contact.
I will be back and hope my experience will be better and will re-edit this...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at Daily Bean Café Ed Square, a halal-friendly café that ensures no cross-contamination. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed brunch or lunch.
We started with the Daily Brekkie, a hearty and delicious plate featuring poached eggs, hash browns, sautéed mushrooms, avocado, spinach, tomato relish, sourdough, grilled haloumi, and grilled tomato. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.
We also tried the Smashed Avo, which came on sourdough with fresh avocado smash, feta cheese, poached eggs, beetroot hummus, and dukkah. It was vibrant, fresh, and packed with flavorâa perfect vegetarian and halal-friendly option.
The Steak Sandwich was another highlightâpremium beef eye fillet with grilled Spanish onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and BBQ sauce on a Turkish roll, served with crispy chips and tomato sauce. The beef was tender and juicy, and the flavors were perfectly balanced.
The Chicken Linguini, with grilled chicken in a creamy sauce reduction, Spanish onion, walnut crumble, avocado fan, and parmesan, was rich, comforting, and full of flavor.
For drinks, we enjoyed two refreshing mocktails: LyE to Me (lychee puree, coconut syrup, pineapple juice, soda water) and Mango Nut (mango puree, coconut syrup, apple juice, soda water). Both were beautifully presented and very tasty.
Our hot drinksâCappuccino and White Chocolateâwere smooth, comforting, and a perfect finish to our meal.
Overall, Daily Bean Café Ed Square impressed us with its delicious food, halal-friendly environment, and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a satisfying and safe...

I gently tapped her on her arm and asked her to step aside The manager spoke to me in an extremely rude manner and said donât touch me! Upon my return the manager was still taking orders from a table with 10+ people Again I asked her to move aside very politely Eventually, because of this managerâs rudeness we left the restaurant without eating our meal and asked for our refund. The manager then came to speak with me stating that her arm was the issue I reiterated to her that at no stage did I push or shove her I tapped her to get her attention because she was ignoring me The main issue was that she expected me to wait until she finished taking all those orders before I could step in front There was no other way to get through to my table and she chose to stand in the way and refused to move despite asking her to move aside three time very politely so I could pass through This person made me feel extremely belittled by this experience. Weâve eaten here numerous times before, we will not...
