Absolutely not coming back here until you change chefs.
The staff that were serving me and my wife were very helpful and service was great. It was my wife and I first time there so I had high expectations as the menu had some great dishes.
We ordered for entree the pork bits and the calamari dish. The pork was cooked perfectly but was ruined with the âgarden of edenâ next to it that hadnât been cut up. I would pick 1 part of the salad and the whole garden rise altogether. It also had some black spots which tells me it was old, and not washed. The calamari rings were greasy, and had no flavour to it beside the bottled sauce that was put in a little dipping bowl on the side.
For our mains, I ordered the beef ribs which weâre at a high end price range, and my wife ordered the lamb shank and a side of seasonal vegetables with butter.
My dish was horrible. There was so much bbq sauce I could have done a few swimming laps in that I couldnât even taste the ribs. It was like I was having a tender bbq sauce. It was overpowering and very bitter. The chips were stuck together so it was either frozen before or it was overloaded in the frying basket. Plus the generous four fingers worth of coleslaw was bland.
As for my wife, whoâs bright idea was it to put some bland mouldy tasting pasta with a lamb shank? It was that dish that was screaming for a divorce from each other!! If the first thing for my wife is to season the lamb shank before continuing to eat the lamb shank, that is applauding. Now the seasonal vegetables only had some carrots bits and 5 cauliflower chunks drenched in butter, again you need me to swim again? With that amount of butter I could buttered a whole loaf of bread and still have some for tomorrow!! Also where was the rest of the seasonal vegetables? They decided to chill back in the kitchen?
Once again if I said to the waiter that the beer was my favourite when she asked how our meal was, it to shout volumes to the food that is coming out of that kitchen. As I said the waiters were absolutely amazing and deserve 10 stars, but the food was absolutely unforgettably the worst I have had. Also different uniform, overstaff, and no manager direction, shows much care is shown to those that work there. Last thing, what is up with the notepad taking orders? We still stuck in Fred Flintstone days? Get more devices!! For $150 for two is a decent amount of money spent on dinner but to end up being so disappointed is another thing.
Hope things can change as itâs a nice venue, and great location. Wonât be back...
Read moreVisited Lone Star Rib House & Brews at Ed Square on September 8 and had such a great experience that I thought it was worth leaving a proper review. The location is really convenient and the restaurant itself has a nice setup with a fun, relaxed ambience. Itâs the kind of place that feels lively but still comfortable, perfect for hanging out with friends or family.
The customer service really stood out on this visit. The staff were super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We were actually there to celebrate a friendâs birthday, and the team went above and beyond to make it special. They were more than happy to let us do a cake cutting, and even joined in singing the birthday song, which made the moment even more fun and memorable. That kind of personal touch really makes a difference.
As for the food, everything we ordered was on point. We started with the Buffalo Wings, which came tossed in their signature buffalo sauce. The flavour was bold but well-balanced, and the wings were cooked just rightâjuicy inside with that nice kick of spice. The celery sticks and blue cheese sauce on the side worked perfectly to cut through the heat.
The Spiced Onion Rings were another hit. Crispy, golden, and not greasy at all, they had that satisfying crunch with every bite. The garlic aioli served with them was creamy and packed with flavour, making it a great pairing.
For mains, I went with the Godfather Schnitzel, and it definitely lived up to the name. The chicken schnitzel was crisp and golden on the outside but tender inside, and the toppings of napolitana sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and jalapeños made it a hearty and flavour-packed dish. Definitely one for those who love a bit of spice and bold flavours.
On the drinks side, the Pineapple Mojito was refreshing and light, with just the right amount of sweetness. The fresh mint and pineapple gave it a tropical vibe, and it paired really well with the food.
Overall, the portions were generous (more than enough to feel full and satisfied), the food was tasty, and the service made the whole experience even better. With the great atmosphere and welcoming team, Lone Star Ed Square is a spot Iâd happily return to, especially for a fun night out...
Read moreSo to start, customer service was amazing. All the staff had smiles on their faces and were eager to help serve while I was waiting at the table. The place was tidy with the staff actively sweeping. I went around Christmas and they were playing Christmas movies on a screen. They had a large snowman and light up Christmas tree as the decorations with some nice christmas music. It is a very festive and welcoming place.
For the drinks I ordered a Cherry Crush Mocktail and a Belgian Dark Chocolate Milkshake. The Cherry Crush tasted like the Cherry version of the MAOAM Joystix. It was a real throwback. The Dark Belgian Chocolate Milkshake tasted very high quality and a good level of sweetness for a Milkshake in my opinion. It was not sickly sweet as most places but had a really spot on Chocolate taste instead of pure sugar or syrup.
The food and drinks came exceptionally quick. It took about 5 minutes for the drinks and 10 minutes for the food even when moderately busy on a Saturday night. The Rib tower was so flavorful with the honey bbq sauce they had which was subtle of both honey and bbq and not to overpowering in either. The meat fell off the bone with how tender it is, plus they have so many different sauce options that it took them about a minute to read! I got the mushroom sauce which was also very flavourful and not to overpowering. They have really nailed flavours on the head with everything I have tried! The slaw was a nice calm flavor that when you had it muted the busy flavors of everything which was perfect. The Texas Rib Ranger said serving for 2 however it was so filled I took half home for lunch the next day.
In summary, has been absolutely nothing to fault on, the food is worth the price it is due to the large servings, the hospitality of all the staff from entry to exit have been flawless! The flavour profiles are spot on and not to busy. Plus with the slaw it is a very neutral but pleasant flavor. Sadly to full for desert but their brioche hot dog sounds super yummy! Will 100% try when I...
