We have loved Derrel's ever since it opened but unfortunately, it is slowly turning into a classic case of becoming too big too soon and the standard of food & service are just not the same anymore. The food has just not been hitting the spot lately (Butter chicken was really bland and unsalted last time, Samosas taste like they are being fried in reused oil) We have also had a couple instances of the food causing upset stomachs (not acceptable). This place is ALWAYS busy which is great to see but I wish they would iron out their takeaway processes, they keep getting orders wrong. The front of house staff seems extremely disinterested and just unserious (except Supriya who is amazing and trying to hold the fort down single-handedly). As more places open up in the area, Derrel's is going to have to stay consistently good to avoid becoming one of those Sydney joints that just don't live up to the hype. Also, can we improve the roti for the Kathi roll wraps, it's nothing like the ones...

We had the Chaat Samosa, Chicken Kathi roll and a goat curry plate (was a special on the night). All packed a full flavor, good variety between dishes and we were very satisfied. It's a different experience to an authentic Indian or Pakistani restaurant, but that's the whole point.
Had to wait quite a long time for a table, but that's not the restaurant's fault - and they communicated well with us by phone while we were waiting in the pub next door.
I don't like a very noisy environment, but I didn't find the music too loud - so maybe they have taken note of some of the other comments previously and toned it down a bit. Service was friendly and prompt.
It's possible that my good experience was a result of selecting the more flavor-packed dishes - but I'll definitely be back to try some...

(20 people already inside and another 15 waiting outside) Clipboard provided at the door with a long list of names. Customers signed the board and went to the neighbouring ‘Lady Hampshire’ for a game of pool and a beer.
I waited for 35 minutes. You can expect the curry to bang on with the spices whilst maintaining a mild spiciness, chicken is perfectly white, cooked right through, vegetables offer a safe haven for those not familiar with spices (cucumber has been peeled, classy!). Chips to finish and a mango smoothie, is a well deserved treat.
I managed to find a bench, next to the convenience store, opposite Derrels. Packaging was sealed securely, so if you prefer to order through the food delivery, then it will arrive...
