I consider myself a regular there, although the family went back to Korea for a wedding, I do find myself eating there when the business is up and running. The food is great, always love myself a nice serving of beef bulgogi paired with rice, sometimes with a bottle of soju; absolutely divine! The beef bulgogi is nice and tender, very flavourful and fragrant, too. The rice is also cooked to perfection, with soft and well-cooked grains that one could pick up with chopsticks. The only thing I did not enjoy as much was the fried chicken, it is way too sweet (although I asked for hot sauce) and felt like they drowned in the sauce; I am in no position, however to comment on the authenticity of the fried chicken, and I am sure many people do enjoy it so please only consider this particular bit as a subjective rant from a crispy chicken lover.

The service is unparalleled to anywhere is Sydney, too. As someone from Melbourne, I am always overwhelmed by the living and working pace which Sydneysiders dwell under. Knowing this, the clerk who I always find serving front of house, always greet me warmly and make flexible adjustments according to my need. For example, when I had too much rice left-overs at home, and only wanted a serving of bulgogi to send them down; instead of insisting on me buying the dish plus rice combo, he simply told me that they will prepare two servings of the dish only. This sort of flexibility is not something one could find easily in a city trapped in rules, and where what is considered 'normal' dictates the "correct" way of doing things.

Finally, loved the atmosphere, it is a bit dark for my liking; however, I can appreciate the dimness in the middle of the night, which brings out a relaxing and calm vibe.

Overall, you should visit Open Korea if you can, it won't be a...

Open Korea is more than just a restaurant to me—it’s like a second home. The food is made with such love and care that every bite feels like a warm hug, with that special chef’s touch that makes it unforgettable. Whether I’m dining alone, with a loved one, or a group of friends, I always feel welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of. The atmosphere has this magical ability to make you feel at ease, and I find myself smiling every time I walk through the door.

The family who runs Open Korea is simply the best. They pour their heart and soul into everything they do, and it shows in every dish and every interaction. Their kindness, hard work, and dedication are something truly special, and I feel lucky to have found this place. It’s rare to come across a restaurant where you feel so genuinely cared for, and I’ve never had a single issue with the food or service.

No matter how far I move, I always make sure to come back when I’m in town because Open Korea is my comfort spot. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an experience that brings me pure happiness every time. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a true gem, and I’m grateful for...

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't ever bother going. We arrived and was not served, after 45 mins they took our order after an hour we noticed every other customer who arrived and ordered after us had been served their food. Finally after 2 hours of waiting we complained about being ignored constantly and wanted to cancel all orders and they brought us unmarinated korean bbq meat and demanded we pay for it. By then we were furious and it was unbelievably expensive (for 3 unmarinated and raw bacon strips and 3 small boiled rice servings we were charged $80) they claimed preparation was the reason why it took so long for unmarinated meat. They were rude, crude, obnoxious and lacking in customer service. It got to the point where the manager finally stopped talking to the fancy rich old people to acknowledge we were upset and the rest of the service girls ran behind the counter into the kitchen out of sight (just like everytime we tried to get their attention) it's sad really our first experience was good and our very last was the worst experience i've ever had in any restaurant. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT...

This is truly a local hidden gem in Camperdown. They claimed to be the oldest Korean restaurant in Sydney since 1985 and I can definitely see why they could survive throughout these years. This small business is run by a married couple with three kids. Don’t be fooled by the small and humble appearance. The food is of high quality and generous in portion sizes. We only ordered two dishes and had some leftovers to takeaway for lunch tmr. Spicy soft tofu stew is packed with flavours and plenty of seafood (see pictured - prawns, squid, clams). Spicy level is good but it was a little too salty. Pork bulgogi is the highlight of the dinner for us. Sizzling on a hot plate, fragrant and well flavoured. Fried chicken is also a must try - recommended honey soy and garlic chilli No cards surcharges and no extras for takeaway containers are quite rare in the market these days which I really appreciate for.

Oldest Korean restaurant in Sydney! 🇰🇷 Inconspicuous little place on Parramatta Road, I must have gone by it countless times without noticing. Decided to give it a try on a whim and I'm glad we did. If we could do half ratings, I'd give it a 4.5. Lovely service and tasty food. Not as plentiful banchan (the tasty starters to share) as some other Korean restaurants, but they were good. A meal here may skew slightly higher than some other Korean restaurants. A few dishes (like the short ribs) had a higher price point, and you'll need to add on kimchi as an extra. The food came out so fast that I actually forgot to take a pic of the bibimpap. Sorry! Was super pleased to have tofu bibimpap and veggie dumplings options. We were super happy with our food and we'll be back! No doubt one of the better Korean options in the Inner West.

Simple dishes with amazing taste! We picked this restaurant on a cold, windy Sunday evening because seriously, who even drives and waits more than 1 hour for Korean food in Strathfield and Burwood these days? When we entered this restaurant, I got a feeling "my god, it's so dingy in here". The walls were decorated with old photos and posters. The ceiling lights looked like they were about to fall down to the ground. I told my partner "This place makes me like we're lost somewhere in the countryside, and f*ck it let's eat here because there's nowhere else worth our attention" We selected 3 simple dishes (ox bone soup, seafood pancake and the garlic chilli pork belly) whilst the kitchen was buzzing with Doordash orders. The food (especially the pancake) blew my mind. Highly recommended for anyone to visit.
