MISS OUT CHINESE - especially if you have allergies!!

Unfortunately, this restaurant has demonstrated clear NEGLIGENCE as they have breached their duty of care on numerous occasions in relation to allergies. Someone could die if they do not change their practices.

We had eaten once before here and enjoyed the food and advised the waitstaff of a peanut allergy. However, on our last visit we ordered the Mongolian beef and a noodle dish and advised the waiter that we had a peanut allergy.

I confirmed with the waiter that there were no peanuts or satay in the any of the dishes we ordered, as my partner has an allergy to peanuts. The waiter looked me into the eye and said ‘no peanuts, no peanuts!’ He said it was fine and took our order.

After the meal my partner was hospitalised from an allergy. (Thankfully my partner is okay today). When the allergy occurred we thought there was cross contamination and it was an accident.

I later came back to the restaurant to give them feedback. When I spoke to Roger the manager, I mentioned that we spoke to a waiter and advised him that we have a peanut allergy. Roger stated, point blank, that the Mongolian beef has peanut butter in the sauce… Before I even mentioned who the waiter was, Roger asked if it was the older man who often held his arm… I was shocked and said yes as this was the man who served us. Roger told me he has had to speak to this waiter before…. (I left in shock as this was a clear breach of duty of care, is extremely dangerous and someone could have died)

I returned a few minutes later and when I questioned Roger about what the restaurant will do in the future to make sure this doesn’t happen again, I pointed out that if the waiter had to be spoke to before about this issue, it is clearly something the restaurant is aware about. Roger kept stating ‘we speak to all our employees about allergies’ and wouldn’t admit that it was the specific waiter and wouldn’t implement a plan.

I also spoke to Roger and requested that our meal was refunded … we have NOT received a refund and Roger was not apologetic and during the conversation kept uttering that the restaurant had insurance.

I note that the menu does not list allergens and instructs the customer to ask ‘friendly staff’ if you have any allergies… which is exactly what we did… and we were lied to and the restaurant breached their duty of care.

Unfortunately the food here was tasty but we will not be coming back and do not recommend this restaurant as they have a clear pattern of breaching their duty of care in relation to allergies. Someone could literally DIE if they continue their practices…

This is not okay. Please beware if...

3.6, dropped from 4.7

Still very much catered for Westerners with Cold Water served rather than tea, and no Teapot even for hot water.

Menu has changed a lot compared to what it came out with, and prices have risen. Calamari was just okay, Prawn Fried Rice was quite boring - I made the mistaken assumption that there would be snow peas and Carrots or whatnot in there but there wasn't. Have also ordered a through Delivery but it wasn't authentic eg Chinese Style Fillet Steak was entirely wrong cut. Lots of people getting sizzling plates at restaurant - I guess if that is the crowd, they have to play to it.

4.7 - Yum. No MSG. Fantastic Cantonese Cuisine, and Top-Notch Service. I wandered in early Saturday night and they found a table for me. I was delighted with the menu items on the front page, which would typically only be found in heavily frequented areas such as Chatswood and Eastwood. Am so happy to find XO Pippis, Pork Knuckles, and standard Cantonese dishes to make me feel at home. I had the Fillet Steak Chinese Style, which had enough "Wok Hei" so you could taste the flavour exuding from the Beef, and a Tofu and Vegetables dish in Garlic and Ginger sauce (~$44 for both) which was so good that I wanted to take the sauce away too! The only thing is that it got slightly too smokey from time to time as the dishes were made, but it's a slight inconvenience for the bright and open kitchen feeling of the restaurant. Just wash your hair and clothes afterwards, just like at a BBQ. The main waiter, whilst not smiley, was very accommodating and attentive and I loved hearing staff speak Cantonese, adding to the authenticity. Awesome...

Absolutely AMAZING! It was so much fun sitting towards the back of the restaurant near the kitchen and head chef - Peter. The food was delicious! Peter recommended the “AAA” “Number 1” “Special Sauce” with the beef steak on the sizzling plate… it was out of this world amazing! Packed with so much flavour, and the aromas were incredible! Also tried the famous pork knuckle… don’t be intimidated by the size, it’s so moorish you can easily devour it with another dish. Oh, and the fried rice is very tasty too. Highly recommend. Super friendly staff and a great vibe! Keep up the good work, we are so glad to have this new gem join our Gladesville community! Please don’t leave, as we “don’t want to miss out!” YUM, YUM, YUM! We will be back! See you...

Was really surprised by this little gem of a Chinese restaurant. We visited on a weekday and the lunch menu seemed great value. Initially, we were sceptical of the pan-asian menu (teriyaki and pad thai also feature), but decided to try the Chinese options. We ordered a meal each with extras thinking it would be small as a lunch special. To our surprise, the portions are extremely generous, and the food quite authentic. We ordered the Congee with added century egg and youtiao and couple fried noodles. The noodles came out crisp, flavorful and not oily. Staff were friendly and attentive and seemed to know locals well. This place has the approval of my dad — who is very picky with Chinese food (!). We will return for dinner or takeaway in near future.
