I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent service I received at your cafe. As a healthcare professional, I am accustomed to high standards of customer service and empathy. Unfortunately, the cashier's behavior fell far short of these expectations. Their dismissive tone, curt responses, and overall hostile demeanor were entirely unprofessional. Nobody, should speak to anybody like that, especially a customer.
As someone who interviews healthcare professionals, I can confidently say that such an attitude would not be tolerated in any workplace. I would not hire them.
Furthermore, as an interstate visitor unfamiliar with your menu, I was surprised by the lack of understanding and compassion displayed by the cashier. A simple explanation of the different coffee options would have sufficed, rather than a dismissive attitude. When they rang the total up on the till it was $xx.73 yet when the girl put the total into the EFTPOS machine she put $xx.75. I told her the cents on the till said .73 and she had put the incorrect figure into the POS. She told me it was the surcharge and I said I can see the surcharge was .23 and the .50 only comes to .73 - she then proceeded to tell me that it was rounding. I told her she should absolutely not be applying rounding if customers are paying by card. They all got in on it then and I said again that they should only be applying rounding if customers are paying cash. I took a seat. 10 mins later after watching the guy on his mobile phone and occasionally serving a coffee, i started to think he forgot. I gave it another 5 mins and then asked him, "how is my chicken and rice going?" He said soon, then got it out of the microwave. Obviously forgot. I sat down to eat but it was luke warm. Took it back and they just stuck it back in the microwave. If I had not already paid, and if the food court was not closed, I would have walked away. The food court area was closed for renovations.
