Fan Thai Restaurant offers a decent dining experience with a few notable highlights and some areas for improvement. The ambiance is cozy, with tasteful decor that sets a pleasant tone for the meal. The menu features a good range of traditional Thai dishes, providing options for both adventurous eaters and those seeking comfort food. The food itself is a mixed bag. The fried rice was flavorful and well-executed, capturing the essence of Thai cuisine. However, the chicken soup fell short of expectations, lacking the vibrant balance of flavors typical of Thai soups. Unfortunately, the service was less than satisfactory. The staff seemed disinterested and were not particularly polite during our visit. The main course of fried rice arrived before the chicken soup. While the staff did apologize for this mix-up, the overall service experience left much to be desired. Pricing is reasonable for the portion sizes, but given the inconsistency in food quality and the subpar service, it felt a bit hit or miss in terms of value for money. Overall, Fan Thai Restaurant provides an acceptable dining option for Thai food lovers, but there is significant room for improvement to ensure a more consistently satisfying experience.

I have had what I thought was great Thai, but this is hands down the best Thai food I have EVER eaten. Fresh, delicious and full of fresh flavour and vegetables. You must try the bamboo wrapped chicken as entree it is crave worthy. The fish and duck meals are fantastic and tonight we had sticky mango rice which was to die for! Absolutely our new favorite place to eat in Camden.

This Thai Restaurant has been in Camden for years. It’s in an historic building so you may eat in different rooms, it’s very quaint. The food beautiful, I would say some of the best in Sydney, I only eat Thai at Fan Thai. They’re not licensed but don’t worry there’s a pub across the road with a bottleO behind it. And the s service is great too.

Based on high rating reviews left by diners on Google, we decided to try this resto and happily waited for it to open at 5pm (ignoring our hunger pangs). We were not aware that dining reservations were required. We were asked by the lady who appeared to be a manager/owner (seemed to be of Asian/Thai background) if we had a reservation. We said no. We're asked if we will be staying beyond 630pm to which I replied, we should be finished eating by 6pm. We're eventually let in. We're thankful. We noticed that everytime we said thank you for every food served to our table (as courtesy), no acknowledgement was coming from her. It's not that we're expecting her to, but it's obviously too different with the way she warmly welcomed non-Asian diners. She'd happily respond to their thank yous. We felt she became happy seeing us finished our food before 6pm and immediately asked us (without being requested) if we need a takeaway container for the leftover food. We felt rushed. We're of Asian background and it's the first time we felt unwelcomed and discriminated against by someone of Asian descent. We're perplexed why we received such treatment. We should not have gone in as we did not have a reservation. Feeling the hurt of my young niece and nephew from this dining experience, I became so propelled to share it...

We ate here tonight. This is possibly the best Thai food I have had in Sydney.

We ordered Gai Hoa Bai Toay for entree. Have never had this before. Lovingly wrapped in Bamboo leaves (the waitress told us she wraps them all herself) and cooked to perfection.

Mains we had Pad Thai and Masaman Lamb. These were cooked to perfection. I can not rate the Masaman highly enough. it was exactly what I love.

Desert was Lychee Pancotta, and was the perfect ending.

The service was friendly, but not over bearing. The restaurant was very charming, in an old Terrace style house. Our meals came out promptly.

The table water was cold, which was very refreshing after a hot day.

Everything tasted fresh and clean and crisp. This will be our go to...
