I have dined at a few RSLs over the years, but this venue has set a new benchmark. Stepping into this expansive multi-level complex, I was immediately impressed by the spacious, modern design and abundance of options under one roof.
From the bustling bistro and casual dining areas where families gathered, to the more upscale restaurants hidden away in landscaped courtyards - it was clear this venue had something for every taste and budget. Our group of six decided on booking a table at Flame, one of the fine dining establishments located on the top level.
When we arrived for our reservation, I will admit I felt slightly underdressed for such elegant surrounds. However, our waiter put us at ease immediately with his friendly and attentive service. We started with drinks while checking the menu. The menu at Flame did not disappoint, with an excellent selection of steaks, seafood and chef's specials on offer. I opted for a succulent rib eye on the bone, cooked perfectly to my liking. My dining companions also raved about their tenderloin and beef rib dishes. For dessert, a delicate affogato hit the spot to round out the night.
While the (fine) dining experience far surpassed expectations, I was also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices given the caliber of food and upmarket ambiance. This RSL has clearly invested in creating a resort-style facility with something for everyone. I would highly recommend booking Flame for a special occasion - it will not disappoint. This hidden gem is now firmly on my list of top Sydneys...
Read moreVery Disapointing ! Overpriced for the servings provided. Would not recommend a group booking over 10 people as you are forced to have the set menu provided. Food was tasty and had great flavour. We where a large group booking who had the two course option on the menu. We were asked to choose if we wanted Main & desert or main & entre before the booking. We didnt realise we where having a shared menu until the night. This was ok but we felt for twelve people paying $48 per head we would have recieved enough dishes. We only recieved two of each main dishes ( thats 6 dishes ) to share between 12 people. The chicken dish had 3 pieces in each dish for 12 people - we were still hungry after the main and sides where served. Desert was tasty but again we where given not enough serves and expected to share. Service was ok but Saturday nights are busy and we where left waiting for drinks during the evening. We spoke with the manager who listened but was not very receptive. Unfortunately we all agreed we would not be going again to the Flame and not recommending it to...
Read moreIt was good but could have been better, I'm not sure there wasa need for a waiter/waitress disturbing our dinner every 5 minutes asking if the food is to our liking when there were no one taking our order for 30 minutes.
No, it was not what I expected at all for that price point however, if you do like unseasoned meat this is the perfect place for you, granted most of the diners were elderly they probably couldn't taste that it lacked in basics like salt. It also may have just been a bad day for the restaurant so I can't judge too hard.
Maybe that's part of a new "contemporary dining" i'm not familiar with, I think the greatest offence to my guests and I were the rudeness of the other servers that were not our own. They would often brush pass and tell us to get out of the way, how? We're sitting down and we're closed in as far as possible.
Maybe if the dining experience is better and the food improves I would recommend to others but as of right now, other restaurants in the beaches far...
