Coffee: Forsyth Coffee Passion: 9/10 Crema: 9/10
Every time I visit this cafe I reminds me of when I worked at Cafe Hernandez back in the day. It has the same old school charm, a massive array of different coffee blends and staff who really want to make sure you get the best coffee experience. Though these hardest thing you'll have to overcome when you come here is....deciding which coffee to try.
Today I went with the Tanzania Blackburn Estate single origin as an espresso and, while I missed the bigger whack of brightness that I was expecting (and probably more evident in a pour over coffee), it was thoroughly enjoyable. What was really surprising was how long the buttery, chocolaty after-taste stayed around. Not unpleasant at all...
Then I went for a espresso from the classic Burundi ( Mumirwa region) and loved the difference between the Tanzanian coffee. The bright lemon citrus cut through really well, and didn't stay around too long (which was also a plus). It felt almost like a cleansing coffee that sets me up to have....another...at some point... soon... :-)
So when you come here ( and you should), be sure to come inside, check out the various rooms, sit back and enjoy a great coffee (or two). They do have seating outside but personally I love the feeling inside the cafe more.
N.B. There is #powerwhoring available in the "Tea" room below Van Gough's "The Café Terrace at Night" There is no public...

A shame because I used to like their coffee. I had been coming to Forsyth Cafe for many many years but it seems they can't be bothered treating their customers with any respect. When I asked for a "flat white with no froth" not only was a told quite rudely "Flat White's don't have froth!" (well really??? I'm sick of paying for a full cup of coffee only to walk away and find half the cup is filled with foam - making the other half of my FLAT white too strong to drink) But I didn't argue - i just replied very nicely that I would like it Extra flat please. When our coffees were ready we heard the "baristas" behind the counter say "This is the coffee for the people with something against foam" And then when the barista handed us the coffee he added "I had to work extra hard for that one mate - getting it FLAT!"
If the job's too hard for you MATE - get another one! They weren't having a nice joke - they were being arrogant and rude. I wont drink...
