Mibrasa oven - over cooked and not worth the price.

We booked on a Sunday night with a few friends. The interior is quite nice. The service was a little slow, a few of us arrived at different times but it was so difficult to order a drink. The wait staff don't look at the customers, so we had to grab someone to come to the table to order drinks. This was the same when it came to order our meals. We ordered a bottle of wine and a few cocktails. The lady was kind enough to let us taste the wine before purchasing the whole bottle. Cocktaills were okay, a little small but tasty.

The four of us ordered the Mibrasa Experience and the other ordered just barramundi. The Mibrasa experience was $50pp. We got a mixture of entrees and shared it. For entree we ordered Edamame, salmon crudo, tofu and the caprese salad. All of the entrees were delicious! The crudo and the salad was very fresh. For mains we ordered the chicken, King Ora Salmon and the steak. The King Ora salmon and the Fillet steak is an extra $5 on top. This was not worth it. The salmon was over cooked, the steak and chicken were average. There is also a selection of sauces that you can choose from as well.

For the sides we chose the sweet potato wedges, sprouts and the cauliflower salad. The sides were quite small for the 4 of us. The barramundi was okay.

Overall it wasn't worth the price that we paid or the hype about the oven. The service is a little slow but friendly staff. When we came to pay they added extra items onto bill which were removed once we asked them. They are flexible with splitting the bill 3 times...

I have been to Salmon & Bear a few times, and this establishment does not disappoint. This includes celebrating special days with friends & loved ones. Located conveniently for folks who may travel by car, bus, or the metro (a short walking distance from Crows Nest station).

My highlights are: The place serves good value food and I highly recommend the Mibrasa Experience menu. The ability to choose a variety of sides is always a winner. Favourites for me are the Brussel Sprouts, sweet potato fries and broccolini. Love all the starters that come with the Mibrasa Experience and my go-to main is the Atlantic Salmon with the Salsa Verde sauce. A special shout out to Victoria who is amazing in how she treats every guest who patronise the establishment. Not all wait staff has the finesse Victoria has in guest interaction, though Victoria will make sure it is all good in the end. They accept both cash & card Love how the establishment is tastefully decorated. The earthy feel gives a very warm & welcoming feeling. There is indoor & outdoor seatings. There are heaters available for guests who decide to sit outside when the weather is cool. I highly recommend booking in advance as it can be full house on weekends and special days.

All in all, a good place to try out if you...

I often visit Crows Nest because it’s one of the metro stops. There’s so much food to explore, and a bonus is that my friend lives there. I visited him after he returned from overseas. He recommended a place that serves amazing salmon, so we decided to go there as soon as he got back to Sydney. We didn’t need to make any bookings, and the walk-in was easy.

I ordered the Atlantic salmon with the Baby Cos salad and Salsa Verde. I wanted something healthy, so I ordered the soda gin, which had fewer calories, which was a good choice.

My friend ordered the pasta. We had a quick catch-up, had ice cream, and then played a game of pool in a bar nearby.

If you enjoy exploring for food, Crows Nest is definitely worth visiting. Take the metro today!

Save and share this post to try the crispiest, freshest, and most delicious salmon! It’s also super healthy. The friendly service is a bonus.

Here’s what we ordered:

ATLANTIC SALMON (GF) - $35.95 Salsa Verde + Baby Cos Salad (choose the sides from the menu)

TOMATO & VODKA RIGATONI - $29.95 Rigatoni, prawns, and basil in a spicy vodka tomato sauce topped with Parmesan...
