Terrible Experience - Unhygienic, Racist, and Unapologetic

I am compelled to share my horrendous experience at FOUR FROGS CRÊPERIE, and I feel it's my duty to warn others about the unsanitary conditions and appalling customer service at this establishment.

We sat down and ordered three crepes, hoping for a delightful dining experience. Little did we know that our visit would turn into a nightmare. We discovered not one, not two, but a total of four hairs in our dishes – a level of hygiene that is simply unacceptable.

Upon informing our waitress about the hair found in the crepes, she offered us a free dessert as compensation, in which we accepted. However, we found another hair in the original crepe we ordered and, shockingly, a piece of thin ashy brown-black hair embedded in the free-of-charge crepe. Disturbed and rightfully concerned, we brought this to the attention of the waitress again, expecting a resolution.

Regrettably, the waitress merely summoned the supervisor without offering any explanation or apology. As no one came back to us with a solution, I asked to settle the bill and asked for a reasonable discount. To our disbelief, the supervisor, rather than addressing the issue professionally, accused us of being responsible for the hair. The supervisor LIED about the hair being coloured “black” and attemped to use our racial backgrounds to then accuse us of planting the hair as according to her “none of the staff has black hair”. This racist attempt to use our asian background to craft a blatant lie is just insulting, offensive and sickening especially when the hair was CLEARLY of various colours including blonde and brown which clearly do not match our hair. After being proved wrong the supervisor then attempted to distract the conversation and insisted that the hairs were from the brush used to make the crepes and dismissed any concerns about the safety of consuming hair from a brush.

As we requested a reasonable discount for the unsatisfactory experience, the supervisor not only refused but also accused us of lying. She twisted words, turned the situation against us, and insisted on charging us the full amount for the meal. This level of unprofessionalism is simply inexcusable.

Adding to our concerns, we observed that many of the cooks were initially NOT wearing hats or hairnets. It took our initial complaint for them to put on some hats. This lack of basic food safety measures is alarming, and customers should be aware that there is no guarantee of food safety at FOUR FROGS CRÊPERIE.

To top it all off, no apologies were offered throughout this ordeal. The overall attitude displayed by the staff was appalling, and this experience stands out as the worst in my 20 years of dining out. I will never set foot in this restaurant again, and I strongly advise anyone considering it to exercise caution – there may be no assurance of a hair-free dining experience :)

Follow-up Review:

After sending my feedback, the restaurant acknowledged the issues and also implemented corrective measures to prevent such situations from occurring again. A full refund for the unsatisfactory dining experience, along with a voucher for future visits...

we were here for valentines day and ordered their special set menu, with the addition of a smoked salmon galette. the food was most certainly fantastic, though the service was terribly disappointing.

we were seated indoors at first then later asked to be moved outdoors since it was awkwardly noisy inside. waitresses come by and we make our order, get our single glass of champagne shortly, and then our smoked salmon galette in about 15 minutes. it was cooked to perfection, with the perfect amount of flavours in each bite, but to be frank it never filled us up very much. we received the scallop galette a while later, along with the salmon blini. it was very strange that they would only have one, as well as a single drink (so we ordered another), considering that to have dinner with your loved one would entail two servings. the crepes were alright, it was nothing like i've ever had before. they were a bit too generous with the chives, but we still enjoyed it anyways, and finished it quick since we were hungry.

while we waited for our final dish, the mon cheri crepe, they brought out another one of the smoked salmon galette that we had earlier, and we were a bit surprised. we didnt eat it since we knew it was a mistake, and we had already received it. it took forever for them to come by, and it felt like no staff were paying any attention to us. we returned it eventually, and waited for half an hour for the crepe before i asked a staff about it, to which they have clearly forgotten about us and our orders. it was appalling that they did, considering that we were simply sitting down waiting for absolutely nothing in their eyes it seems. it arrived, we finished it, and we were keen to leave because of this lack of service tonight. i head up to pay, and ask about the complimentary rose they were supposed to give for those who ordered the valentines special, and i was met with a surprised face that clearly said, "oh right, i forgot."

as delicious as the food was here, the staff here seem to be all over the place, and frankly ruined our expectations of a nice little valentines dinner. i'd suggest going to a different chain instead of this one, or another restaurant altogether if you're...

My husband and I had an incredibly disappointing experience here over the weekend. Despite there being only a handful of people seated outside (maybe four others), we sat at a table and waited for over 10 minutes without a single staff member approaching us. With a young child in tow — and any parent knows you don’t have unlimited time or patience — I decided to go inside and order coffees myself.

Given how long we’d already waited, I ordered our coffees to takeaway, anticipating our little one wouldn’t last much longer. To my surprise, I was met with a condescending attitude and told I couldn’t have takeaway coffee and still sit at the table. I explained the situation, but it clearly didn’t matter.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough, a staff member came outside and questioned my husband for sitting at the table “with nothing ordered” — even after he explained that I had gone inside to place the order. He was told he couldn’t sit there unless we’d ordered table service.

Eventually, after asking to speak with a manager, it became clear the real issue was that takeaway items are cheaper than dine-in, and they were upset they missed out on a few extra dollars.

I’m sorry, but if your staff had simply acknowledged us in a timely and professional manner, we wouldn’t have ordered takeaway in the first place. And the way we were treated — as if we’d brought in outside food and were just freeloading at your tables — was downright insulting. We still gave you our business, but were treated with absolutely...

Four Frogs Crêperie does a fantastic job blending classic French technique with casual Australian charm. The menu is well-curated, leaning heavily into both savoury and sweet crêpes, all crafted with precision and authenticity. The atmosphere is chic yet laid-back, making it ideal for anything from a solo indulgence to a relaxed meal with friends. The staff were friendly, efficient, and clearly knowledgeable about the offerings, which added a lovely personal touch to the overall experience. I ordered the La Tartiflette and was instantly impressed by its bold, comforting flavours. The galette was perfectly crisp on the outside, tender within, and generously filled with layers of rich melted cheese and lardons. It struck a perfect balance between indulgent and satisfying without being overly heavy. The combination of creamy texture and savoury elements worked harmoniously, making each bite deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of dish that doesn’t just fill you up—it lingers in your memory. What I also appreciated was the portion size and price point, which felt justified given the quality of ingredients and execution. It’s clear they take pride in both their craft and their sourcing. Whether you’re a crêpe purist or simply seeking something deliciously different, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
