Hi everybody,
I don't write this lightly. In fact I write with a bleeding heart (only a little literally)
I've been a frequent frequenter to this venue for quite some time. It had become a refuge of sorts for colleagues and myself to meet. It's not impertinent to say that these meetings became more frequent because The Orient had become less hospitable. (This could be because both venues are of the same Ryanshotels polyopoly mind you!!!). I'll expand:
Pricing: Are you guys serious?!
2: Offerings: As a venue with the opportunity to capitalise on corporate debrief drinks, how has this venue not accommodated? Each time I've invited my colleagues to join me, I've been met with a reluctant business. This leads me onto my third and final point.
3: Customer Service: not only have myself and my colleagues sworn ourselves off The Orient Hotel for these reasons, we find ourselves unimpressed by the Paragon for the same trespasses. It's expensive! It's not accommodating! I'll use no explicit language here, but please insert at least four words of your choice!
I'll use the latest experience as collateral, despite it not being a singular experience.
My colleague and I remained well before COB. As one does, we decided to utilise the facilities. It is important to note that we had received verbal notification regarding closing time, still some 15-20 minutes away.
My colleague was allowed to pass, unimpeded and unmolested into the bathroom at this point. Upon their exit, they were met with something else entirely.
They were berated, and frankly abused, by the staff who had maintained access to the bathroom (unimpeded). Their exit initiated a barrage of retrospect rebukes: "We screamed at you!" Stands out...
Of all the options to mediate, why choose that?
In the bloody aftermath, they chose the only reasonable option. It should surely be ensured that a refund be issued, for just the previous round, issued presumably post closure according to the current timeframe issued by the establishment.
Instead, the manager responded: "what makes you think you deserve a refund?" In quite an aggressive air.
Self explanatory.
The security staff proceeded to advise my colleague attain spectacles, an offense to us all considering there was no signage to behold.
We were promptly removed.
I would not advise...
Read moreA friend and I went to the Opera House and afterwards decided to sit and have a drink/chat at this venue on the 5/3/23. I’d walked past many times and it always seemed to have a casual, relaxing vibe. Our experience here, however, left a lot to be desired. First of all, for a pub in the city, they don’t serve cocktails past 8:30pm, and they close ridiculously early. Second, there was only one bar staff member that was actually welcoming, and he was the one that actually served me - the other one that I initially encountered pretty much sneered at me and proceeded to serve some girl before me, even though I was first in line. The same guy later harassed the security guard multiple times and ordered him to kick us out 5min before closing time while we were enjoying our catch up over wine (the only thing they were serving other than beer, apparently). We’d only been in the pub for about half an hour. The security guard himself was far more friendly than the staff, and that says a lot. We also noticed that the same particular staff member who was rude to me earlier wasn’t pressuring the security guard to harass or kick anyone else out early, only us. Absolutely unnecessary and rather discriminatory way to treat customers, and I suspect it had something to do with the fact that my friend is from Africa, as there were two other groups that were behaving rather unruly; one group in particular sitting behind us was a group of English men, openly discussing how cool it was to take drugs all night. Neither one of those groups were approached or asked to leave...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at The Paragon Hotel in Mudgee, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This charming boutique hotel perfectly balances modern luxury with a touch of country charm, making it a standout in the region.
The accommodation was immaculate and thoughtfully designed. The room was spacious, with plush bedding that ensured a restful sleep. I appreciated the little touches, like the locally sourced amenities and the welcoming bottle of Mudgee wine—such a thoughtful nod to the area’s renowned wine culture.
The service was second to none. The staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. From personalized recommendations on local wineries to arranging transportation, they handled everything with a smile.
The dining experience at the hotel’s restaurant was another highlight. The menu showcased fresh, local produce and featured dishes that were as delicious as they were beautifully presented. The wine list, unsurprisingly, was outstanding and featured many of Mudgee’s best drops.
The location is unbeatable. Nestled in the heart of Mudgee, The Paragon is within walking distance of the town’s charming shops, cafes, and galleries, and just a short drive to the region’s iconic vineyards.
Overall, The Paragon Hotel offers the perfect blend of comfort, style, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic getaway, a weekend escape, or a wine tour, this hotel is an absolute gem. I can’t...
