Absolutely the worst experience Iâve had with restaurant staff in my many years of dining out. The hostesses are extremely rude and downright hostile towards customers.
Went out of our way to drive into the city on the weekend to try their wings. Checked to see if it was going to be busyâplenty of reservations available online (every 15 minutes a table is available!). Paid $26 to park in the building, walked up to ask for a table (we could see 4 empty tables available): âtable for two?â The hostess says simply ânoâ and turns around and walks away. A bit in shock, I wait for her to come back with an explanation. âAll booked. You need a reservationâ, she says. No offer to wait...
Okay. Log onto their website again (itâs now 7:05 pm); make a reservation for 7:15 pm. Reservation is confirmed. I bring the reservation and the confirmation code to the hostess (now there are two there, neither of them friendly or helpful). She glances at the computer and says she doesnât have my name. Then I show her again the confirmation number and ask what they intend to do with a confirmed reservation that they wonât honor. She says nothing as there are other people with reservations as well and she doesnât have my name. I point to my name, very clearly visible on their POS system. âYou just made that, so I wonât take itâ. What about the open tables? Thereâs just two of us, we donât intend to stay long, just came for wings. âThose are for people coming in later. Weâre very busy.â What do you tell people who walk in normally who say they want to wait, when youâre not too busy being rude to them? âI tell them itâs at least going to be two hours and that they probably shouldnât bother waiting.â
On our way out we call and ask to speak to a manager. Put on hold for ages...relayed the experience...0 sympathy or remorse from them, either. Before offering a resolution or alternative, we were hung up on. (Somehow, this felt less rude than having someone physically turn their back on you mid conversation in the way the hostess did, but I suppose itâs par for the course at this stage of the evening).
TLDR, Rockpool, you should be ashamed to employ these people in a customer service capacity. We got dinner at Wings n Tins in the end, and their service and wings were both fantastic. I wonât bother coming...
Read moreIf youâre looking for a fun, laid-back place to smash some wings, sink a few cold beers, and catch the game on massive screens â Winghaus Gateway at Circular Quay is where itâs at!
First off, the wings are insane. You can get bone-in or boneless (both are great), and there are heaps of sauces to choose from â I went for Texas BBQ and habanero, and wow, flavor bomb! You can order them in bulk too, so itâs perfect for sharing... or not. đ
Theyâve also got classic American-style food like burgers, onion rings, and loaded potato gems â all super tasty. Oh, and don't skip the deep-fried chocolate bars. Trust me.
Now the drinks? Next level. Theyâve got 40 beers on tap â everything from German steins to local Aussie brews â plus cocktails on tap too (yes, even espresso martinis). Their happy hour (5â7pm weekdays) is a steal: 50c wings, $6 pints, $7.50 cocktails. Canât go wrong.
The vibe is great â huge TV screens everywhere, comfy seating, and a cool sports bar feel with jerseys and memorabilia on the walls. It gets busy on game nights, but that just adds to the atmosphere.
Staff were friendly, service was quick, and the whole place has that energetic, good-times feel. Great for groups, casual dates, or just grabbing a feed solo and watching some footy.
Definitely 5 stars from me. Will be back â probably...
Read moreWe arrived, and we entered the room. we were a group of 14 but BOOM we were split apart. We are all a tight knit group of people, and despite us comfortably fitting on one table (which by the way would easily fit 18 people), we were told we were blocking the pathway and had to split the table in half. Let me remind you we are a tight knit group of people, and we did our best trying to squeeze in and make as much room as possible for others, and we received nothing but death stares. Despite the somewhat rude service, cannot complain about the extremely cheap and tasty cocktails. overall a solid 6/10 jight. Only deserves a high score of 6 because we are going to side bar afterwards. We had booked for 14 people but there was not a big enough table provided. ALSOO we were told that we were not allowed to order more than two drinks at a time (bit weird if you ask me) not even in line with RSA. Rude service. Felt highly disrespected. Anyway still a good night. Waiter number 25 was cute so worth it. Thatâs why we gave it a 6; but not being higher than that. good evening and...
